And people need to realize why things like that increasingly become an option. In a world that has increasingly become absolutist where you cannot begin to see the other side of the argument, let alone accept any compromise, then killing a piece of shit in the desert is a lot easier than bringing him to trial where civil rights groups have outlined a tactic of simply claiming torture as a defense. That doesn't even go into the complexity of dragging a dude off a 300 A.D. battlefield where he has numerous aliases, and then building a case against him likely without any witnesses other than the guys who captured him who work for the same government that will prosecute him. Civil rights lawyers have a field day using our own system against us.

Just about everything you listed as government overreach is justifiable to some degree but often made worse by people who proclaim to fight against it. The encryption debate is a perfect example. Absolutists won't allow for any wiggle room and so the government will continue to do their job and it will lead to a worse outcome. Not doing their job is not an option. And all the while Russia and China being what they are will do their job while we have one arm tied behind our back in the name of liberty. That was find during the Cold War v1 days where the arm was a moral high ground that often helped flip spies. This is the digital information Cold War v2. The arm we have tied now in the name of liberty will very likely make it impossible to compete while earning us no morality points.

Ogie's not on our side. There is no "our" for libertarians. He's out for himself. Fuck the social consequences. For a guy who is against violence, he sure seems to reference it in nearly every post. And for a guy is pro-individual rights, he is glad to ignore the rights of others when you mention Israel. (And no, that doesn't make me anti-Semitic.)

Libertarians stand for nothing. Like Tea Partiers and SJWs, they are often incapable of nuance. What's more, they view sacrifice as a weakness. Their conscious minds are riddled with blind spots, and the only arguments in their bag are repetition and volume.

The detail no one is picking up on is that the shooter had suffered significant weight loss in recent months.

That points to a serious health condition, like cancer, that may have been killing him.

Add the anti-anxiety meds, which are mind altering, and that may have been enough to put him over the edge on top of a heavy gambling habit, which is inherently anxiety producing.

He also apparently was very noise sensitive, in that he complained twice to the hotel about guests playing country music too loud below him. The concert (and the noise) was the object of his rage. I don't think it had to do with politics at all.

It's a fact he was noise sensitive. I don't think it's ridiculous at all to exclude noise and concerts as part of his motive. The gambling machines that he played didn't have bells and whistles. The characteristic of the properties he owned was that they were private. He was private to the point of paranoia, having no contact with his neighbors. He shut himself off from them.

CNN also reporting that someone briefed on the current findings of the FBI investigation is saying he had become obsessed with Marilou's ex-husband in the months leading up to the attack, they described him as "descending into madness". Maybe a brain tumor or something.
