Barring a rally, there are major questions ahead. Do we re-sign Jake? How about Davis? Do we trade Schwarber for pitching? Maybe package Heyward to get that contract off the books?

Schwarber will bring nothing. No one will trade for Heyward.

2 starting pitchers and a lead off man. And bullpen help. Other than that, they're fine.

1.Get a real lead off man.

2.Get rid of Heyward.

3.Trade Schwarber for a pitcher.

4.Let Arietta go. He's seen his prime. Use that money for another starter or two.

5.Keep Davis. I think he wants to stay.

That's why I said "package". Lots of bad contracts out there.

PM is wise. He's got the recipe.

Fire hitting coach John Molly. Our all or nothing approach at the plate sucks.

They can try to luck into some bullpen help but what moves can they make?

All your stud players simply didn't produce. You aren't blowing it up. As a famous coach once said..."my team is on the field"

They can retool the bullpen. Zobrist really needs to disappear. I don't mind getting rid of Schwarber, but the return will be less than half what it was after 2016 World Series.

This. Gotta makeover the pitching staff though.

Lot of teams still think highly of him. Mostly in the AL. You might be able to get something for him and package in another player like say Happ.

Probably; going to want too many years

Look for them to trade for a young, controllable pitcher.

Depends how much money he is offered elsewhere. If the Cubs offer 4/100 and he says yes, he's back but someone will offer 5-6 years and he'll be gone.

They have lots of young pitching in the minors. Not a lot of elite arms, but there are a number of intriguing guys so yeah, why commit huge dollars/years to Jake?

Exactly. Phase 2 of the rebuild is the arms coming up, and adding Harper in a year and a half.

i dont think Harper is coming here. He'll stay in Dc or go to another team.

What is the situation with Jason Heyward again? How many years is he signed up for?
