Baez struck out in his second plate appearance Sunday, for the eighth time in the playoffs, and flew out to center in his third to run his hitless streak to 19 at-bats. His 0-for-19 to begin a postseason is the second-longest run in franchise history to Jimmy Sheckard, who was 0-for-21 in 1906, according to Elias Sports.

Just wait until he starts to lay off the elevated heat, and the stuff in the dirt. He isn't afraid of anything.

Even his magic tag has been failing as Bellinger slid by him.

I just pray Javier is able to handle the pressure and break this historic record. He came up so big in one round of the playoffs last year that his legend will only grow in cubbie fans minds should he put himself back in the record books.

Homered in Game 7 of the World Series that they won by 1 run and was the NLCS co MVP having an .833 OPS and lock down defense.

You truly have lost a step.

I wish continued greatness for this great, great player. I did notice you used different metrics for each series to define what we already know: Javy is great.

Well, a home run in Game 7 of the World Series pretty much speaks for itself. Other than that he wasnt good offensively in the WS.

He was great in the NLDS AND the NLCS.

Im sorry that it bothers you so much. He had a great post season run and the Cubs won the World Series.

One more to tie and two more to take it. I can only hope he strikes out on a Tasmanian Devil type swing to he breaks the record.

He'll always have been a HUGE part of the 2016 World Series Championship.

I know cubbie fans like to celebrate mundane records for their team so I guess this is an historic run already as their 23 K in 3 games are the most by an NLCS team over that time period

he missed his chance to make history

At least he came out of the dugout for a mildly enthusiastic ovation. I'm sure the crowd was roaring in his mind

That was a dead crowd again last night. Two people speaking loudly could have been confused for a chant

Yeah, but there a guy behind home plate wearing a Tux. Hopefully he is qualified to travel via plane in that attire.

Not only that, by the end of the game he had the lounge singer bow tie untied hanging off to the side thing going.

Only 1 team has ever gone down 0-3 in a league championship series to date and won that series, so yeah, I guess it could be historic.

Strong take. A salient point like that is worth a call to 3 (three) different radio shows today.

by the way, Baez will think he is great after that second home run and swing at that pitch in the future with a 99% miss rate

He already swings at that pitch every time.

Still, his miss rate would be the same as yours.
