especially one in which rookies and second year players were the best players on the field

A win next week and I think this city will be ready to go full Da Bears mode.

People were mad at Pace for not drafting a safety instead of (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky and he wound up getting the best safety in the draft in the 4th round. Gotta give him some credit.

I certainly do. I missed Jackson in the wealth of Alabama defensive talent and I relied on outdated reviews (due to his injury). Meanwhile, he had intangibles (defensive captain of a team with 11+ pros) and was excellent in coverage, which is really the principal quality of a modern safety. He has immediately made the players around him better. Even Amos looks like he can cover now (he could always hit).

Bears have the best former Alabama safety in the NFC North,

Clinton-Dix looked frightful yesterday,

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky will make or break Pace's tenure here. But he has found some real late round gems, like two RB's and a good safety. Whitehair may be here for a long time. The entire defense is playoff quality.

If we only had an NFL level receiver to evaluate the QB.

Our rookie safety turns 25 in a month. Which means he should be a 3rd year pro by this point. Not that he is bad, but he probably wont have as long of a career.

if drafting a 24 year old didnt scare them away from lenoard floyd... why sweat a 4th round selection of an "old" player?

All the "experts" saying what a find this Jackson kid was and I hope they are right.

I'd like to ask what has he done in the previous 6 games to make them think that.

I had no clue about how "good" he was until yesterday.

I have noticed him all season. He has good instincts and makes plays. I am pretty sure several people have commented about him during the game threads.

I'm no college football expert, but I think he would have been considered a top talent if not for past (major) injuries.

I was honestly just asking.

I didn't notice him but glad to read he might be more than a flash in the pan.

There were evaluations that dismissed his coverage as being along for the ride of a great Alabama defense. I seem to remember at least one report evaluating all of his interceptions and determining that most were in situations where he was not in coverage on the player being thrown to.

I remember spending a lot of time defending this pick in the 4th round thread during the draft.

My only concern with him is health, but his talent is legit.

Win against Baltimore.
Win against Panthers.

In terms of Football Quality, both were hot garbage. Bears may have won, but plenty to bitch about. This team is still really bad.

this is ridiculous. The Ravens and Panthers may not be great this year but the Panthers are above .500 and the Ravens are right there behind the Patriots as a model franchise. And what do you have to say about the win against the 5-2 Steelers?

Bears have beaten quality opponents. They aren't beating up on the Browns or AFC South.

The Baltimore game in particular took the Ravens two fluke TD returns for them to even be in the game.

The Bears have a lot of room to improve, especially on offense, but to say that they are "really bad" is not true.
