All I've seen of Markky was shown on Sportstalk and it was an impressive clip. The writers were all impressed...as was I. It's not unrealistic for the guy to get FREQUENT dbl/dbls.

Another double double for the kid. 14 and 12.

Barkley and the guys on TNT just said that he reminded them a little of a young Dirk when he first came in the league

I know Atlanta stinks but it was nice to see a bad Bulls team with a lot of guys missing still pull out a W.

He's good. I might eat crow on this guy too. He's just like Porizkingas of the Knicks except he rebounds as well.

But doesn't have the rim protecting or post game of Porzingis yet.

ok, alrighty then.

It's not just about how good he is...it's a question of whether they could have done better.

Done better at #7 or done better in the Butler return? Because in terms of draft selection status, Markkanen as of now clearly looks like the right pick at that slot.

I wanted them to get Fox, so higher slot.

At least they didn't draft Malik Monk as many armchair GM's were slobbering all over his dick.

I saw a pic on twitter last night showing that through their first 35 games Markkanen is way ahead of Dirk in stats, but cant find it this morning to post it here. Obviously the kid has a long way to go to be Dirk. But real nice to see him surprise so many people. The kid can play.

Dirk and Rick Carlisle have both stated how impressed they are with him

Dirk "I didn't know he was really that athletic. I mean, he shoots it easy, can move his feet, can play above the rim. He's going to be great for a long, long time."

Carlisle “Terrific. Every projection that said he would be a really effective stretch-4 from the outside and be able to hurt people on switches from the inside was accurate. He’s probably ahead of where most reasonable expectations were. 7-foot guys from foreign countries that can make shots from everywhere (will) get compared to Dirk Nowitzki. That’s a fact of life. It’s pretty clear he’s been a practitioner of a lot of what he’s seen out of Dirk. Terrific player, future all-star.”

All Lauri needs is to grow some NBA balls. It's a bitch of a transition from battling all white Euro teams to this rough, crazy talented league. Give the guy time. Fuck Dirk...this kid could be the next Jerry Lucas, only taller.

Let’s temper the hype. Dirk is an all time great player.

I’d love to see him get a chance at the 3 point contest this year.

I don't think Markannen will ever be good but Durant and LeBron put up good stats on bad teams their rookie year too. Most top picks that turn out to be good do.

This post was made a week after the season started. Sort of debunks the "never seen him play" myth.

Yeah, it takes more than 3 games for me to start changing my opinion on something. 3 games is too small of a sample size to extract meaning from. Once you learn this lesson it’ll keep you from saying embarrassing things like Kyrie is better than Steph.

When i stated that he was going to outplay Steph Curry the fact is he outplayed Steph Curry. Which person came out looking foolish on that me or you?

As far as Markannen you have moved the goal posts so far they might as well be in Juneau Alaska at this point.

You have gone from definitely stating that he will be a bust to definitely being great.

In between these two outposts there exists enough spin to make a machine gun appear wooden.

It became "hadn't seen him play" thus couldn't make an assessment. Then once its established that you had in fact seen him play it became hadn't seen him play enough.

You wonder why Caller Bob is calling you out for promoting such "nonsense".

I still roll with Kyrie over scary ass Steph by the way. With each passing year such comparisons aren't really seen as "nonsense" either.

You care a lot about mvp talk and all nba first team talk. Let’s conpare Steph’s resume with Kyrie. Wanna do that?

Curry is overhyped. Irving has been the better player this season. He is carrying that team. Curry doesn't have to do that with Thompson and Durant on the team. He is surrounded by better players. Better bench also. Fact is when they match up head to head (still the best way to determine when a player is better) Irving has destroyed him.
