Trump certainly is a jerk but we do not need to change reprehensible things he said to something else.

I dont know, he lies a lot.

What he described sounded more like "forcing himself on a woman with his hands" than "goosing"

Whether he actually ever did it, I couldn't tell ya. Id guess yes.

Come on! You know he was saying that's what he can do to women because of his wealth/fame/power.

There is no text book definition of "grabbin em by the pussy"

If my interpretation is wrong, sorry Charlie, maybe don't say such disgusting things?

I don't really know. There certainly are general problems in the general population with these matters. The common thing I see in these recent stories is money and/or power. No fear of reprisal really.

The common person doesn't really do these things for fear of losing everything or incarceration. That is aside from not wanting to be an animal.

Yeah, plus he HAS been accused of rape--by his ex-wife and an anonymous accuser who says he assaulted her in 1994 when she was 13.

There were about 13 accusers during the campaign, weren't there?

Only Ivana and "Jane Doe" have alleged that Trump raped them The other women accused him of making unwanted advances, groping or kissing them, intruding on dressing rooms when he knew they were naked, etc.

Men have been doing this for centuries but times are changing and the RESISTANCE movement is trying to cling to the past. All things come to an end.

I think he was talking about actually doing it. As TM pointed out, there was a reason to believe that he had done things worse than this in the past. If his ex-wife was lying you better be careful what you say to anyone in the media.

Don't you work in a STEM discipline at a university? Surely you must know that women faculty and graduate students at many universities consider sexual harassment a major problem in the sciences and engineering. It's a particularly troubling issue at large public research universities that have significant populations of international women graduate students working under male faculty members since international students are extremely vulnerable due to their tenuous immigration status.

This thread took a bizarre turn.

Of course its important to make a distinction between sexual assault and rape. Why would anyone argue otherwise?

Well when discussing a candidate for president the distinction doesn't matter. Stay focused.

Yes, it does. Distinctions always matter. Ignoring a distinction is willfully making a discussion less accurate. Why would you want to do that? It's bizarre.

Because neither are fit to be president. Did you read the thread or grab a quote and run with it?

I read the whole thread. Stay focused on the discussion and stop changing the topic.

We can denounce both sexual assault and rape, and say that both mean you are unfit to be President. That's fine. There's still a distinction between the two, and if you're criticizing someone that is making that distinction, it's clearly not the objective truth you are after. There's never a bad or wrong reason to add additional information to a discussion.

Yes. I am in a medical school research department. I am aware of policies and precautions of sexual issues. I have never heard or seen of a case personally though. I am actually surrounded by many females in position of power. My point was at the upper reaches of wealth and power there seems to be less concern of consequences. I did not say sexual conduct issues do not occur otherwise but fear of reprisal lowers those incidents.

Of course there will always be those that have issues where they are never deterred.

Distinctions are not all equal and not always relevant.

Saying some people get tortured then raped rather than just raped is not really relevant when discussing the "only rape" instance.

Sure it is. Someone who tortures and rapes someone is much worse than someone who rapes someone. Raping someone is evil as hell and I cannot imagine being able to do that to someone, but torturing and then raping is clearly and significantly more evil.

First of all, I didn't criticize anyone. I simply said the debate wasn't necessary. You're free to tie yourself into a knot telling me that Trump is a better man than Clinton. I'll continue to think both are awful. Same with Mao/Stalin/Hitler.

Im not arguing that the distinction/difference doesn't exist. Im arguing it's not relevant.

I guess a more accurate way to say it is that I dont really care for the "yea, but worse things exist in the world" argument.

I think Trump is worse than Clinton. Unlike you, I don't view every bad person as equally bad. That seems like an odd view to take.

What the First of all, meme? I think I missed that.

And in the context of this thread, no one has accused Trump or Clinton of torture (yet).

Now W, with the waterboarding,...who knows.

If what Trump didn't isn't rape it's really close to it to the point of it not mattering if it is or not.
