Warren Buffet drinks five Cherry Cokes every day, and he seems to be doing ok.

it's really not that hard to avoid sugar if you want to. though who wants to live a life without homemade apple pie and chocolate chip cookies?

It's not the obvious sugary foods. It's the hidden stuff. It adds up quickly with things like bread, pizza, yogurt, a lot of canned vegetables, cereals, most frozen meals and other stuff. Even at 5mg at a time it adds up all day.

You apparently subscribe to a rather unique definition of 'hidden' - unless you're referring to people who can't read; then you might be on to something.

People would call me pedantic for making that post.

We cook eveything from scratch so not that hard. Now there are certain things I like that have sugar...tonic for example. Atomic Fireballs. If somebody brings in donuts to work, watch out!

I eat them but it wouldn't be that hard not to.

Well, it's probably wider known now because of all the carb cutting diets.

I think that was the case 10 -15 years ago. Now it's pretty widely known that there are "hidden" sugars in everything.

Maybe Arkansas still doesn't know.

Definitely not. I tried to stay under 20 carbs a day.

Basically, Eggs, meat, and salad with moderate amount of dressing.

It's kinda similar to the caveman diet, which I dont think has ever been brought up on this board

I'd rather eat sugar taken from a beet than a methyl ester of the dipeptide of the natural amino acids L-aspartic acid and L-phenylalanine.

That gets to the second part which is that it is still hard to avoid it enough to get down to a healthy level.

It's not easy to avoid sugar, but it's not because of a lack of information.

A few weeks ago, I went to the Doc and my blood sugar was too high, so I made it my number one priority to cut sugars and simple carbs.

The blueprint is easy. Basically, just eat meat and vegetables and make sure that any carbs you eat are complex and high in fiber.

I did very well for a month or so and didn't cheat much at all, but then I had to go out of town last week and I fucked it all up. My difficulty isn't a lack of knowledge or even being hungry... it's not planning ahead or waiting until you are hungry to eat. That's when you start to say "fuck it. A hamburger isn't that bad."

But I really don't understand how people could eat frozen dinners and not realize there's sugar in them. That's idiotic.

A couple servings of fruit per day is good for you.

Well you are cutting out like 80 percent of a grocery store and like 90 percent of restaurant/fast food.

It's just not that easy to do and even then most people still go over the recommended 5 to 10 percent threshold of calories from sugar. Thats been my point all along.

What's a healthy amount of sugar to eat in a day?

I have no idea and neither does anyone else. About the best you can say is sitting on a couch guzzling Mountain Dew all day is not beneficial to your health.

Its also a different sugar that is much easier for your body to break down than the sugar that is in pop or candy.
