Petrino should be on the hot seat for the way his defense has played all year. Just embarrassing.

I don't think WV's QB was ready for that snap.

maybe if WV's punter didn't spend 3 seconds spinning the football before kicking, his punts wouldn't get tipped. catch and kick, dude.

UCF and especially USF developing top-flight football programs has made life more difficult for head coaches trying to fill out Gator/Seminole/Cane rosters.

Seminoles up in the panhandle should have better luck recruiting out of state, esp from Gulf Coast states.

Top recruits still would choose FSU/UF/The U; but it's the rest of the roster that the big three Florida schools used to be able to fill out with quality in-state players without much effort that they're now having to scuffle to recruit.

As next-tier down talent would probably rather be featured players/starters on UCF or USF than overshadowed in Gainseville/Tallahassee/Miami.

Gators already down 21-0 to Georgia

Iowa State looking good early vs TCU. 7-0 Iowa State in the 2nd; and Iowa State just converted a 4th down on their own 40.

Man, that was a nice TD run by Barkley.

What are Illinois and OSU doing with their uniforms today? They probably wore these last year at some point now that everyone has, like, five different uniforms. Not a big fan of either of those looks.

And NIU better figure out a new recruiting base

Maryland's unis are pretty bad too; not even sure where they get the yellow color? I guess from the State flag?

Are you saying Sanders did not have break away speed in the open field?

Yuge 3rd down stop by Iowa State. Their defense has improved to to a crazy degree in 6 weeks.

Quote:
With the 2015 NFL Scouting Combine well underway, I got to thinking. I wonder what time Barry Sanders ran the 40-yard dash in? So I started to research and immediately came across a piece written by NFL Senior Media Analyst Gil Brandt that quickly stole my attention.

The piece was written by Brandt on July 22nd, 2004 and was meant to honor Sanders as he would be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame less than one month later. Rather than attempting to re-tell the story myself and not do it justice, here is an excerpt from Brandt’s piece that talks about Sanders and what happened at his Pro Day at Oklahoma State.

“Barry decided to come out early but did not work out or run at the combine. Instead he showed off his wares at his Pro Day at Oklahoma State. In those days, the timing days weren’t as well attended as they are now, so there must have been 20 or 25 teams represented.

Everyone’s ready for the workout to start and Barry is nowhere to be found. Word was he was out of town picking up some hardware (trophies) but was on his way. So he flew into Tulsa and came right from the airport to the workout. He got out of the car, got into some sweats, limbered up a little bit and ran a 4.37 in the 40-yard dash! I remember standing next to Wayne Fontes, who was the Lions head coach at the time. The Lions picked third and we (the Cowboys) were picking first, and it was pretty obvious we were taking Troy Aikman. So Fontes whispers to me, “Hey, I don’t care if he works out or not, we’re taking him No. 3.” I joked with him and told him not to be so sure he’d be there, but he didn’t fall for it.”

Pretty sure their recruiting base has been regional 3 stars and 4 stars who can't qualify academically to D-1 predominantly in IL and WI. The FL pipeline has produced the same type of recruits, but it's not the death nail if they lose it to USF/UCF.

not sure how much a 40 time matters when you're talking a 80 yard run ( or whatever Barkley's was today).
Short-legged Sanders got run down a lot by NFL defenses on longer runs. Sanders was quick to move laterally and make guys miss. But over a longer run, fast defensive backs easily ran him down and tackled him shy of the end zone.

Show me 3 gifs where that is true, and I will revoke my critique of your comment.

Watch a Barry Sanders highlight reel on youtube. Lowly Jacksonville even runs him down on a break-away run.

https://youtu.be/yUO70i0z4zA?t=247

one random set of Sanders highlights. He scores TD's too. But seems like about half the time on a long run, Sanders was getting pushed out of bounds shy of the goal line by a defensive back who came from 20 yards behind the play.

Course those are highlight runs. Skewed toward Sanders success, i suppose. But even in that package, he gets caught from behind a lot.

Who's doing the play-by-play in the PSU/OSU game? I don't need him to constantly scream to convey the importance of big plays. You can be enthusiastic without screaming.
