You can't consider yourself a fan of college sports, and have never heard of Gus Johnson.

Penn State's offense looked thoroughly discombobulated on that final set of downs.

I've heard of him. I don't watch as much college football as I used to and didn't recognize his voice...or he's gotten more obnoxious over the years. He's like a combination of David Kaplan and Dick Vitale. Very irritating.

That was a messed-up day.

Franklin seems to have some problems playing with a lead. Granted, Penn State was playing some good teams. Disappointing.

Iowa State has beaten a Top Five team for the second time in October.

Hey,how 'bout dem Wildcats?

Another exciting OT win and a weak schedule ahead.

Thorsen showed that RB Justin Jackson isn't their only weapon.

Maybe they get themselves a mid-type bowl this year.

Cats will find a way to not show up,against someone they should beat. At least that’s what the pessimist in me says. Fun last few minutes of that game. Still gets my blood pressure up and heart rate elevated when I watch.

I had to go to a child related halloween event so I missed the second half.
I'm very happy I missed the second half. Penn State needs to win out.

Cory, after the first quarter, I was thinking of digging up your "Dear America, You can thank Penn State for beating OSU" post from last year.

They still got a shot, though, as you say. That Rose Bowl still stings.

Seriously, Ohio State is why I never feel bad for the misery that is being a Cleveland sports fan. The Indians can blow two game leads in every series until the end of time and I will enjoy it.

Really, I'm just happy that Penn State is relevant again. The Big Ten East is as loaded as a division in college football and they still have a chance. Just got to win.

@jimmypasta: great game! well, great finish to the game at least. that's all i saw (state's drive to tie and OT).

@Inebriated Rodent: they could--they should--they better--win out. Boy, they've been up an down, season to season (last year's first two losses) and within single seasons (again, last year, almost beating OSU). That loss to Duke this year stings....

Right....they are definitely relevant. And as fun to watch as any Penn State team since 1994...

I still have flashbacks to 95 and the botched snap that cost them vs Miami of Ohio. I haven’t looked at schedule rest of year. The loss to ISU last year was extremely painful.

Botched snap and weren't they up 31-7? Painful. Probably the most fun I have ever had watching a college football team, though.

FSU and UF are a combined 5-9

UCF (7-0) USF (7-1) and Miami (7-0) 21-1

FIU (5-2)

Lane Kiffin's FAU team is 5-3 and undefeated in conference.

Probably one of them, but it's funny that Bielema and Andersen left voluntarily while the Badgers really haven't missed a beat. Both of them are now on the verge of MAC coordinatordom.

they just have to be good enough. could easily win out. not their fault that their schedule is not tough . . . but i wouldn't bet on them, either.

thanks to barry alvarez, they have a great system in place.

First playoff ranking is tonight. This is pretty meaningless this early in the season, but I'll be curious to see whether Alabama or Georgia is number 1 and how Notre Dame/Clemson/Ohio State fare for the 2 remaining spots. Georgia has absolutely had a tougher schedule than Alabama and I see no real reason to put them at 2 besides the fact that everyone perceived Alabama as stronger coming into the season.
