I think baseball had it right with eight, NFL with 12, and NHL with 16. The NBA at this point may as well be four.

I disagree. I think hockey flows better than any of the major sports. Most games are intense and competitive. My biggest issue with the sport is the tremendous amount of player movement. Not only does it wreck the hometown team, it is hard to even know who is playing for which team anymore.

I would like to see the regular season matter more by cutting down the number of playoff teams to four per conference. I also hate overtime rules with loser points. I'd be ok with a short overtime and games that end in ties. The loser point inflates the standings too much.

I hate the shootout and never watch it. Love the 3 on 3 overtime. Hair is right- they'll never get rid of the 16-team playoffs. Personally, I love the playoffs and don't want them to change anything other than the ridiculous start times that they give central time zone teams. Nothing pisses me off in hockey more than 8:30 start times in the playoffs when the game is in Chicago or Nashville.

The worst flaw in hockey is the hard salary cap. The best hockey in the last 10 years has been the Hawks and LA in the 2014 WCF. Both of those teams have been crushed by the cap. A system like the NBA of MLB would make a lot more sense. Parity is not good for ratings.

Keep the hard cap, but widen the floor and ceiling. Teams that make no money are made to spend money they don't have, then they get revenue sharing or interest-free loans from the Bettman Bank (the NHL's line of credit). And for what?
