I got mine last week! Was once against them, but since there isn't a shred of evidence anywhere that suggests they are harmful, and it's somewhat required for my day job, I figured what the heck!

Yes. It's a good thing to get. It's even more important if you are around kids or the elderly.

I remember when I went into the Army. I reported to basic and they lined us all up and shot with some sort of injection gun up and down each of my arms. Not sure what they gave me exactly but I was never sick for like 10 years.

I started to get sick once in a while in my 30's but never bothered to go to a doc regularly.

In my 40's I again got into the PCP regular visits routine and he would give me the shot every year. Don't really recall being very sick ever since outside of once a year head cold.

Only because you might get it from them. No, I know the idea is for you not to spread to them but damn, I never got the flew until my kids started hanging out with other kids. With three of them its like living in a plague house at times.

Last time I had the flu was about 15 years ago. Had a fever so high I was hallucinating. Never missed getting a flu shot after that.

The stomach flu is just as bad, though I know it's a completely different kind of illness and not even the flu. But at least the stomach flu is gone in a few days. The real flu lasted about five days.

They are only about 50% effective, as they are guessing which flu virus strains will be most active. MANY who get the flu shot get the flu anyway. A healthy adult has no problem fighting the flu. Senior citizens with poor immune systems should probably get one. I have never had a flu shot in my life, and I haven't had the flu for more than twenty years. My kids have never gotten one, and they have never had the flu either.

Pass.

Gave my dad Guillain Barre. Nearly killed him and left him partially paralyzed.

No thanks.

Kids need to be fumigated.

Everyone says fleas on rats spread the Black Death, but it was probably kids. Friggin' medieval hooligans high-fiving each other and coughing all over the maypole and wearing each other's weird medieval hats probably started the whole thing.

Wait, really? Because of the flu virus or the egg culture or....? I am sorry to hear that.

The flu strand changes every year. Unless they can predict what it is mutating into, what good is the shot for last years strand?

Goodluck not getting the flu.

I know a guy who is crippled and gimps along with a cane from a flu shot..no thanx..and there is plenty of evidence, it's just a very small % that it hits.

Debating with my wife to get our kids one. She has a friend who is a chemist that says no, but almost all doctors say yes.

The doctors push it, some harder than others. Whenever I take my kids to the doctor, I hope I don't get the one who REALLY pushes it. He is a pain in the ass.

Research and statistics concerning the flu shot is a crash course in correlation vs causation. Admittedly, the same can be said about both sides of the argument.

Do so, but just remember, doctors have much more evidence than anyone here. Docs can be way wrong (ask anyone with an autistic child over ten), but . . . my PCP (who is hot) has a degree from the U of C . . . besides, the CDC says it is worth getting, too.

Goodluck not getting the flu.

The predict based on lots of evidence. There's really no thinking about future events that is not prediction. Some years they admit that they have a less firm grasp.

It’s rare, but it absolutely does cause things like Guillain-Barré Syndrome.
