Actually, these ideas are just a little bit of the pre-2016 Cub fan mindset sneaking back in. I told anyone that would listen this Heyward thing would be bad long term and fans would want to get him out of here. Now just like the old days there SOME fans dreaming up pie in the sky scenarios where magical great trades are going to happen for him because Cubs.

Don't confuse a handful of morons with most cub fans, overwhelmingly majority of cub fans know Heyward isn't going anywhere, he's never opting out and he's not getting traded in the next 4 years.

I know. That is why I emphasized SOME. That was especially for RPB's benefit. He sometimes think I mean all of youse guys.

I’m pretty sure just about everyone knew it was and that they overpaid for him.

 At the time I compared it to the pre 2016 typical Cub fan mania like the Soriano signing. WE MUST HAVE THE BIG FLAVOR OF THE OFF SEASON FREE AGENT SIGNING. IT WILL BE AWESOME AND WE WON'T EVEN HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT MONEY LATER. It WILL NOT affect future spending in any way.

Well yeah it kind of will and the larger point I was making is again pre 2016 thinking that all teams are lining up to give the Cubs gold to take him off your hands.

No, it's actually exactly what I said and not at all what you said.

Phil Rogers put that out.

Why do you just say things with absolutely no basis or evidence?

The guy with 3 World Series title won on two teams that hadnt won in 86 and 108 years respectively.

I feel like that guy might be decent.

I did not refer to you because of your post today at all. I mentioned you because you generally like to remind me not all Cub fans think like something I posted or you never read that here.

What?

Here is what happened

Phil Rogers put a rumor out. It got picked up and discussed. When the Giants denied it, I pointed out it was just dumb Phil Rogers guessing.

Then you came in with some tired theory about LOLOLOL CUB FANS that has no basis in reality and has nothing to do with what we are discussing.

Also, your attempt at mocking falls completely flat, since after signing him they IMMEDIATELY WON the World Series.

Bryan, I am looking below and can't find where I said you were wrong. I built off of your post not argued with it.

They also immediately won after some other non descript signing of a middle reliever. So what?

#1 Any moves made right before a WS win are pretty much protected under the SCOREBOARD rule
#2 Heyward helped them win the World Series

I'm sorry that you're OMG CUB FANS ARE SO DUMB narrative doesn't work anymore. You should stop trying to force it.

Heyward didn't contribute dick to that WS, it was a real bad signing.

First statement is wrong, second one is right.

He won a gold glove and the team defense was a big part of why they were the best team in baseball.

You are right. Lately, RPB is just trying to be impossible just to be impossible. I would just as soon be trapped in a cabin in the woods forced to listen to LTG and Ogie debate the middle east.

Ok so not one Cub fan desired to have the flavor of the off season prize Heyward regardless of the cost. Not one Cub fan said don't worry about the money the Cubs will have streams of revenue and will not consider this contract in future spending. Lastly, not one Cub fan is thinking some other team will trade them great things for this bad player/contract.

Yeah you are right. Why can't you accept any negative view of anything Cub? You won the WS relax.

You say things without evidence quite often. This is just the latest example.

I accept many negative views of the Cubs (108 years without a title...too long imo) and their fans (too optimistic in general), just not the tired old ones that dont fit and never really did.

I am relaxed.

I would bet there is a thread about it from the day of the signing that would either prove or disprove your assertion

Of course not. Although you will see him described as MLB.COM's Phil Rogers so people take it seriously.

I said idiocy in the original post.

Alright.

State your position.

Gun to your head, you have to trade Russell or Baez. Who do you keep?
