Mashed potatoes is the only food you just listed that is good.

You people are doing your stuffing all wrong then. And deep fried, grilled, or smoked turkey is great.

Thanksgiving is easily the second most overrated holiday in terms of food.

After Halloween.

eh...I don't know.

A beef tenderloin on Christmas Eve crushes a Turkey any day, holiday or not. Or a ham for that matter (Easter/Christmas).

We do grill a duck on thanksgiving along with the turkey...which is always lovely.

Shakes gets it.

Thanksgiving is the best holiday period. Always a solid 4 day weekend and the holiday happens right out of the gate so you get to relax for three days. You don't have a bunch of parties to attend, it's either one or two stops and it's just chilling out and eating good food and watching football. It's a holiday that celebrates gluttony and sloth, if you can't get behind that...I don't know what to tell you.

I love the whole thing except for the food. I loved it up until a few years ago. We did a ham last year.

Ironically, I love Thanksgiving but I'm not overly fond of turkey. It's the sides that rev my engine. I'd be fine if it suddenly ham was the go to.

I feel bad for all these people that have never had a great turkey.

We deep fry the duck on Thanksgiving, too, and it’s awesome.

Drop the mic.

So far I've just had the one fried turkey but it was very goodnand that's with me not as a turkey guy. Even the leftovers were still juicy.

We used to have a family member who was a chef at a pretty nice restaurant. He would cook prime rib for Thanksgiving and Christmas every year. Then we would have all the traditional sides to go along with it. Now that was quite the deal. Wish we still had that.

Turkey is ok. But the sides are def where it is at.

This. The fact is that I hate turkey. I've had turkey that has been really well made, but, meh. I don't like ham either.

My favorite Thanksgivings were the ones when no one wanted to cook, so we went out to a nice steakhouse for dinner...nothing beats a well made steak.

I had to got to my father in laws last year which I dreaded. Went out instead and f in. There was ham, turkey, tenderloin and sea food of various types. It was good to have the variety but the sides were iffy at best. If I could talk my families into doing a smoked pork shoulder or beef tenderloin or standing rib I’d be a happy camper. Don’t mind the turkey, even kind of like it but it is not my favorite fowl.

Thanksgiving is great. It's probably the last non-commercialized holiday out there. (Yes, companies are doing their best to ruin that by staying open on Thanksgiving).

Those companies suck.

It is one of my favorite weekends of the year. Food, booze, family, football, and a nice break from work. I opted to work the day after Thanksgiving this year, but that is Penske File day and there is still enough down time over the course of the four and a half days. My wife and I always watch 'Planes Trains and Automobiles' on Weds nite, and generally try to do something Christmas-y during the weekend. It kicks off what is perhaps the best 6 weeks of the year.

As far as the dinner goes I love most of the sides, but give me turkey, and then some turkey, and then more turkey. Take your cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie and shove it up your ass though.

Why?

For me either lamb chops or roast lamb makes the easter meal one of the year's best.

You're right. I started seeing this a few years back.

I like Turkey. I eat it throughout the year, not just on Thanksgiving.
