I honestly dont like the idea of trading him, but the Sox at least seem to exploring their options.

This guy was a huge piece of shit that Sox fans didn't even want on the team bus 1 year ago. Now he shouldn't be traded? Please. This is a classic sell high asset.

I don’t like it either. He’ll only be 28 when he’s a free agent. I think they should try to extend him.

Yes, it's crazy that fans would change their opinion about an underperforming guy after he has a season where he hits .330 with a 137 OPS+

Saying "I don't like the idea of trading him" is not even close to "he shouldn't be traded." This is a classic Cubs fan asshat thought.

Someone will overpay for him. I think there will be some scouting changes on him and he's more likely to settle in as a 3 WAR player than a 4-5 WAR player. Get some quality pitching for him, let somebody stand in RF until Eloy reaches the Super Two milestone, and don't worry about it.

With Matt Holiday having shit the bed in New York, Avi would be a great replacement. He can DH 5x/week and play RF and let Judge DH 1-2x/week.

He's a 0 WAR player except for when he mixed the right drug cocktail. He's Gary Matthews, Jr.

I'd be ok with trading him if someone blows you away. Can't just give him away.

Agreed. This is more of the White Sox having OF strength and being willing to look for other pieces. Maybe a veteran leader, maybe another young infielder if you want to be able to play Sanchez all over the field.

His value will never be higher again. I would trade him as soon as possible. No confidence that he can repeat last years performance.

If that's what Rick Hahn thinks, they'll trade him.

Well, that's not true.

It's great that him being a good player now bothers you so much though

I'd keep him. why the hell not. you're not going to get a top 20 type prospect for him so who cares?

It doesn't bother me. I just can't believe that the Sox fans on this board, with their great baseball intelligence, are going to sit here and think that Garcia, overnight, went from a absolute horrible player with no value and was close to being DFA'd to a GREAT player who could be a cornerstone of a rebuild, and think there is nothing wrong with this reasoning.

I'm just trying to make some sense to you guys, but its like talking to Trump supporters.

Your posts in this thread so far indicate otherwise.

But some guys figure things out later than others. Surprised you didn't know that.

Why don't you make some sense by telling us what Sox fan actually said that Avi is a cornerstone of a franchise. Not that "he might be" or "could be" but that is he right now. If you can't find that quote (and you won't), stop making shit up.

The Sox have to play 162 big league games next season. They have to field a team to do that. Avi is fine for that. If he repeats his 2017 performance in 2018 the Sox can keep him or trade him. If not, he finishes out the year and moves on. It is a win win win deal all the way around.

Not sure how it is a win win deal. You trade him now while he has value and get something to add to the rebuild. If he moves on after 18 you get nothing but the fond memories of a 1 yr wonder.

I don’t think he’s the franchise player Sox fans are making him out to be.

A lot of hitters break out at age 26. I'm not sure if last year was a fluke or not. I'd try to trade him but I wouldn't give him away.

If he sucks and does nothing I just dont think they'll be looking back to this offseason thinking they missed a huge chance to get value out of him. Whereas if he really has figured it out and keeps putting up .800 OPS seasons they have a really nice RH bat they plug in on the corners or at DH for at least the next two years.

I think Giolito/Kopech/Lopez have enough talent to get the Sox to the playoffs next year as long as they fill out the rotation with a decent lefty free agent (Lance Lynn would be perfect) and scrounge together a bullpen. The issue is going to be offense, and while Abreu is great he cant do it alone. Even Moncada panning out wouldn't get the Sox where they need to be offensively. Avi is a key to winning in 2018.

Tough spot for Hahn, I doubt teams are going to overpay for him. He had shoulder injury in 2014 and that could be the reason he didn't have his breakout year sooner. I'd be inclined to keep him, but with the organization's depth in OF's I could see him going.

He doesn't hit enough HR to have a huge payday. He will always be signable.

I like him and it would be great if last year is who he is. Trading him seems like a Pirates type of move. Obviously you move him if someone is offering Eaton level talent. If not, I don't see any downside to keeping Avi.

It would be quite an accomplishment to sign Lance Lynn as the perfect lefty free agent considering he's right handed.

I'll have two of whatever he's had.
