I grew up watching ND as part of a 100% Irish / 101% Catholic family - screw those half-Irish, amirite Mike?

I still have the SI cover with Vagas Ferguson on it. That was the team my Dad and I watched every Saturday because you could out in the boonies.

The day my Dad died, we watched the ND football game that afternoon at the hospital and then I left. I was home that weekend, just by chance. It was a crappy Bob Davie season but they beat a top 10 LSU team in Baton Rouge that day. I left and got the call that night.

I love Notre Dame football.

I remember being all hyped for the National Championship game against Alabama a few years ago and then they proceeded to get killed. One of my 10 biggest sports disappointments

Once I committed to Illinois, ND took the 1A position.

But, I root for them both equally. Because they will never, ever, ever play each other.

Illinois is my fav college basketball team. Grew up watching the Flying Illini of the late 80s

Well, who can't love Illini hoops?

I have a similar relationship with DePaul basketball. Grew up with the Final Four team and watched them as my team through most of the '80s. Swayed toward Illinois during the Douglas/Altenberger/Winters teams.

DePaul doesn't hold a 1A with me much anymore. They fell too far off the radar. But I don't root against them. To be honest, I can't believe they haven't had a resurgence. They could own that town in a college basketball sense again.

If they can put a tourney team together, having the Wintrust Arena is a big plus. That was a great atmosphere today when they played Notre Dame.

My neighbor in the dorm was so pissed when people were cheering against ND during that game. He was such a douche I think it encouraged more to celebrate at the end.

That's weird behavior....when you're at another college....

Not untypical there. Lots of people that I think would have cheered for their pre enrollment favorite over their university. I mean, the teams there kinda sucked. Well, really sucked during my childhood.

Well, to attack others . . . when you're not at that school, but at a different school. That's the part that seems weird.

I found it all bizarre. I did still wear the colors when I transferred out to MSU but I don’t thInk I ever really bonded with that school. Had a crusty biology professor who asked me if I earned my ball cap. Guess he as an alumnus. Was a touch older and had more responsibilities out there, less collegiate feel. And seriously, Big Sky conference didn’t have a lot of panache. Still, there is only one team I would cheer for against The not so mighty bobcats.

This could be better than The McNugget Challenge.

Let me check with my wife.

The Bobcats have had some decent hoops teams, ain't they?

I think they’ve been to the tourney a few times by winning the big sky. I’m not sure they’ve ever won a game there though. I follow them to the extent of noticing if they are in tourney or not and maybe catch cat Griz on tv.

Yeah, they seem to be that 16 seed quite a bit.....I always pull for 'em, though.

Convicts down 14-0 to Virginia. Huge defensive lapses.

Letdown game.

Wisconsin just returned a punt for a TD; 6-0 over Michigan

Interesting return. They're not giving Michigan anything on offense, apart from that first drive.
