My guess is he doesn't have any children and his parents are gone.

People there know how fucked up it is. The Nork propaganda machine just cannot keep that country entirely isolated.

It is something crazy when this stuff happens, let's call it a hard labor camp(kinda like the jews). They imprison 3 generations to punish the offender. So, if he had a wife or kids or parents and grandparents, ect.
