The only major worry is if Louisville ever opens up. We pretty much went into the hire knowing that Louisville has always been his goal. He's really close with the current Louisville coach though and there is supposedly some bad blood about some things that happened.

Reports are Tennessee has contacted him but Tennessee is such a mess right now with how the legislature got involved to block Greg Schiano that it's probably not an issue. It also helps he has only been at Purdue one year and it can be something that follows you to jump ship after a year. He's supposedly very happy right now and excited about the huge money Purdue has spent and will spend on football. I predict he gets a raise though.

It's going to happen though at some point. I think it would be more likely after year 3 or 4 though.

The whole Schiano-UT thing is a mess.

University being torched for allowing Twitter mobs to dictate hiring decisions and tainting a guy's reputation.

The Sumlin firing thing is pure stupidity. He's a good football coach. Just who the fuck does A&M think they are

What a world we live in .... Kane making his opinions known, to all that read, about coaching decisions at UT.

The funniest thing about the Tennessee situation is that the vast majority of the fans only bring up the Sandusky stuff at all because they feel they're entitled to a bigger name coach, yet they don't seem to realize how their tantrums have completely undermined the possibility of landing one at any time in the near future.

I have no issue with the people who say Schiano sucks as a coach and want someone better.

But the people yelling about Penn State stuff should all be molested by an old man and a ginger.

A somewhat unexpected social media critic...The outrage over Tennessee's expected hiring of Greg Schiano has reached the highest office in the land. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders apparently wrote a scathing Facebook post Sunday afternoon, blasting Tennessee officials for reportedly hiring someone linked to the Jerry Sandusky child-abuse case at Penn State. "Guess who's the new head football coach at the University of Tennesse. Yup. The guy who covered for Jerry Sandusky. #GregSchiano,'' Sanders wrote on her personal Facebook account.

i don't think schiano would be a good coach for TN but i'm not all about the penn st stuff though. however this is the reality youv'e created in safespace college world.

so people keep talking about these names of people being hired who haven't been in football for a while BUT these fired guys got to go somewhere.

sumlin is an amazing get. i hope he comes to the big 10. nebraska/sumlin would be great for that program. but nebraska will probably make another bad hire. that polini fire/ riley hire is really embarassing. no reason to believe that won't continue.

It's Texas Tech, and he's a school legend. I have a good friend who is an alum, in fact, grew up with him in the New Braunfels area, she has an excuse for every boneheaded decision he makes.

It's as bad as idiot Northwestern fans who think Fitzgerald is good.

Parkins and Porkins had Dan Wetzel on talking about this a few minutes ago.

Very good listen as he basically thrashed the Julie DiCaro way of thinking in regards to this.

yeah, i enjoy the guy for what he's worth. he's bill oreilly in sports form. knows he can get more listeners with a center/right lean even though historically he's been a liberal. but it can come off as phony.

It was still a good move for UT not to hire him. Throw in leaking Josh Freeman's medical records, getting the Bucs locker room infected with MRSA, and telling his players to dive for the knees in the victory formation and he's not worth the headache.

He did a great job of taking Rutgers from the worst football team in Division I since they played Princeton into a bowl team that produced some NFL talent.

I still think he would be a good hire for a place like U of I. Now, maybe, he would actually consider them.
