New show on Netflix, 7 episodes. Not sure if it's any good but it's a western with Jeff Daniels and Sam Waterston, so I'm willing to give it a shot. Checking it out now.

Through two episodes so far. Don't usually comment/care too much about the cinematography of a show but this show is just absolutely gorgeous to watch. Takes most of the first episode to get a firm grasp on the story but it looks like they are nailing the writing, acting, etc of the show. Sepinwall had problems with the pacing but he always does and you need a slow pace for Westerns, I haven't noticed the issue through two episodes yet. If you like Westerns you should enjoy this show.

Damn good show. Maybe the best Western I've seen in years, even with the majority Brit cast pretending to be Americans.

Jeff Daniels - hope he wins something for this. Funny how he's the most anti-hollywood actor in Hollywood and he's probably one the best actor of his time.

It was pretty good, I like Waterson but he's got no biz being in a western flik and I've seen him in 3 now. Glad he didn't stick around long. If ya like this then ya will like The Homesman, Tommy Lee Jones n Hillary Swank. Shot in HD also.

Finished this the other night, liked it a lot.

The girl from Walking Dead was fantastic.

Actually, really enjoyed all the actors and characters. Jeff Daniels was great as the villain.

Just finished this as well. Good stuff. Not as raw as Deadwood but solid western storylines and acting. Michelle Dockery is very good in her role.

Just finished this last night. I liked it, but it was uneven. The final shootout had its problems. Griffin's band of men just seemed to self-replicate as much as the Lannister army in Game of Thrones. We were told from the get-go he had 30 men. I think I watched at least 50 different Griffin men get shot in the final episode. And the kid who played Truckee was an awful actor.

But the series had some great moments, and the cinematography was beautiful. Some of the horse riding scenes were fantastic.

I am through four episodes, and it really did take the first episode to figure out what the hell was happening. I like the show a lot. Has anyone gone back and re-watched it? I wonder if I have missed some of the dialogue or meaning in the visuals. I feel like I have.

best show I have seen from Netflix and I generally enjoy their work. I'm through five episodes. It is a classic Western on its face and is thoroughly enjoyable if you wish to look no deeper. It reminds me a lot of one of my favorite Western books, Shane.

However, it is rich with allegory as you might expect from a show named Godless, if you choose to look deeper.

Love it.

Ending didn't hold a deeper meaning than just a good western. It was a little disappointing because I think there was something there but I will gladly accept a good western any day of the week.

The ending wasn't very good or believable even for a good western.

Did you think the stand off in town with women defending against the gang was far fetched? I did. Plus I don't know how anyone survived the fire fight outside the buildings.....

I enjoyed the show, and I am not a fan of Westerns.....

Very far fetched. Everyone bunched up together on both sides...horses scaling stairs amid gunfire without getting hit...Whitey being eliminated without even getting off a shot...people untrained with guns firing from fairly long distances. I'm willing to suspend disbelief but only to a point.

I am out of loop on most tv shows and movies, but Godless was pretty good. Had some quirks (not quirkiness, but missteps), and I wanted to see more of what went on in Blackdom, but I really enjoyed it. Gorgeous shots that would have looked good on the big screen. Satisfying conclusion. Was a little sad when it was over. I pretty much agree with everything here.

I also liked how the actors looked a little off; at least with the women, (almost) no one was flawlessly beautiful. Interesting geography there, too--it goes from a sort of high plains prairie to rocky near-deserts pretty quickly.

yeah i enjoyed this one. thought jeff daniels, scoot mcnairy and the merritt weaver were really good. final climax was pretty insane. just a bunch of random townsladys getting blown away from the street
