Regardless of where they lie (lay?), MSP averages 54 inches of snow a year while London averages a fraction of an inch. Not a surprise that MSP handles it a bit better

So you think its fine that a country that lies almost entirely north of all the continental USA descends into utter chaos over 4-5 inches of snow?

Yes. What do you suggest they should have done differently? Have a fleet of plows and salt trucks on the ready for an amount of snow that essentially never happens? Who is going to be willing to pay for that?

And you are way too hung up on where a locale is situated longitudinally. Climate is influenced by MANY other factors.

Look at Stewart Island NZ. 47 degrees south (in the southern hemisphere). NO SNOW! Do you suggest they should maintain an army of snow plows because they are south of 50??

There is not a year in recorded history where snow has not hit Great Britain.

I was in London in January and it was snowing the kind of snow downtown Chicago has tonight - it is snow at eye level but rain when it hits the ground. The locals were very upset. Fortunately the TV stations are too reserved to go into American SNOWWATCH!! mode.

he just wants to pile on the union jack. there are plenty of places in the US (like portland, OR) that don't know how to handle snow very well, and their roads are terrible. they had to shut the airport down for a period of time last winter because of the snow.

When I lived in Bozeman they would show the first snows in the west coast cities and it was car wreck after car wreck. I think it was cathartic to the locals who were used to 12 months of snow. Seriously, it snowed at least once a month the first year 12 months I lived out there.

Fyi there is literally no snow on the ground here in Dover and hasn't been since at least when I arrived at 6:30pm yesterday. The port is still massively delayed and they say it is due to the snow, all four inches of it, that fell 48 hours ago.

There is really no excuse for this.

When I was there for school, the only months I didnot see snow was August, September, and May.

You've obviously never been to Atlanta.

I fail to see what Atlanta has to do with this. Britain gets snow every winter.

So does Atlanta. And the entire metro region goes to shit if there's more than an inch.

Four inches? Good luck doing your 6 mile drive home in less than four hours.

first year i lived in atlanta (technically duluth/norcross), we had a snowstorm that delivered 3 inches of snow. we had a state of emergency. this was 30 years ago. it was great, because i just went over to my neighbor's house and played NES and Intellivision all day long.

we had just moved from upstate NY the previous year, where 3 inches of snow is called August.

My son was stuck in ATL for three days last week after a 2 inch snowfall.

My favorite was 4th of July, 1997. That was a wtf moment when I let the dogs out in the morning.

You are comparing one city to an entire country. When it snows in Atlanta does the port in Savannah become chaos? Do flights in Charlotte all but freeze? Does every major US airline basically cower in a ball for a week?

Will start charging for carry-on sized luggage. RIP Ryanair.

Many airlines do this, or at least they do it if you book with a special cheaper fare.

Most people would probably allow the stewardess to kick them in the nuts before boarding the plane if it got them a cheaper airfare. Now international airlines are joining the race to the bottom.

Premium seating and service is there if you (or your company) is willing to pay for it.

I dont think anyone really cares about premium seating or service when you're just flying a 1.5 hour flight. That was the beauty of Ryanair, and charging $10 for a carry-on amounts to a 33% price increase.
