This thing is about 40lbs and has the temperment of a house pet. It isn't afraid of anything. It has taken over my block and for about 60 seconds held me hostage in my house.

I came out and saw it in the yard across the street from me and did what any millennial would do, I took pictures and recorded it. It stretched out and looked like it was going to take a nap under a tree. About 5 mins later it decides to cross the street and rest next to a tree near my next door neighbor's driveway. That's when he spotted me and started walking toward me. I'm not afraid because I'm pretty sure he won't attack me as long as I'm not aggressive towards him. He gets about 5 feet from me and stretches out in the grass and after about 10 mins I go inside. I go to the door 20 mins later and it's resting like it's my pet. After negotiating it slowly moved away from my door so I could go to the store. Now it's sitting between my house and my other next door neighbor's house. I blame Killer V.

That's something a dog or cat would do. Someone must have had a pet raccoon.

I had a friend whose mom had pet raccoons. I only saw them when they were young and I can’t remember them being nearly that friendly. But that’s like he’s stretching out for a scratch or something.

I was a fan. I don't have one but my oldest son was born in 2007 and I got one from Triple Threat Sports. He asked me who that player was before and I told him the greatest QB the Bears have had in his lifetime.

Can you kill Raccoon's where you live? Do you have kids? Read my story below.

Long time ago my kids had a pet rabbit they use to let out in the backyard.

One day I noticed some furry thing in the backyard just laying there. Went to see it and it was the rabbit dead with blood and guts all over it.

The culprit I was pretty sure was this neighborhood Raccoon that had been reigning havoc.

I was ready to kill it but called the city if I was ok to do so. The city worker pretty much said they would not be happy if I hunted and killed it but at the same time it wasnt illegal. She told me it's my responsibility to get rid of it if It did die on my property.

It became a good opportunity to teach my son hunting. We stalked the mofo for a long time but then put some bait in the backyard to lure it. It didnt come for the bait at all. We about gave up but then it appeared one night. we did what we had to do.

Maybe use this as an opportunity to teach your kid hunting if you have kids.

And that is not that giant of a raccoon. The one that ate our rabbit was huge. I remember one of the neighbors even saying one night it snuck in thru the dog door and opened the fridge and started chowing down. When the owner found it, it gave a look like 'so' and kept eating.

Teach hunting without bait.
Baiting is illegal. At least here.
Whoever let the rabbit out without looking after it was the culprit. Hunt them down and kill em.

The way you seem to treat animals is upsetting. Didn't you want to poison a dog or was that someone else?

it was like 20+ years ago this happened. it was not pc then to hunt animals to protect your property. As for animals, i never had any use for them. I wouldn't hurt them unless it was for self preservation , protection of property, or protecting someone else from injury.

Yeah. Ok.

No interest in teaching my kids to kill. It's still hanging around the block. I haven't seen 1 stray cat in a few day either.

I tend to be a fan of raccoons but that behavior does strike me as odd. We had a couple dogs that just died this past year that when young kept the raccoons pretty nocturnal so we almost never saw them. If we did it was very young ones. This year it’s possums. They are flipping everywhere out here.

a nice caliber pellet gun can assist in addressing this issue... i dont think my wife would leave the house again until it was confirmed dead if that happened by my door.

Those noises are unsettling, especially if you keep a window open at night. But then again I don't particularly care for animals.

Despite my having rescued a stray dog and a couple of alley cats.

In the mid nineties i was at a kegger in the dan ryan woods, went to take a piss and came across 2 of em fighting in a tree.. It sounded like two mountain lions were scrapping up there..could hear em growl and scream 100 yards away.
