I think I'm a yes on Darvish. Was firmly in the no camp but it' looks like they aren't going to trade so they have to sign someone.

If they are going to spend big on a FA pitcher why go Darvish instead of Arrieta? They are both the same age. Arrieta has shown way more in the post season. What am I missing?

Darvish doesn't walk 5 guys in 5 innings every outing.

No he just gets his ass pounded in big games.

Darvish is projected be cheaper and require less years.

He was pretty good in his first 2 post season starts this year.

He was very good against the D-Backs and Cubs. Tipping pitches can be fixed. Watching Arrieta pitch is exhausting. Darvish is better long term and cheaper (most important).

I'd rather have Jake but that is a bit of bias. Either would currently help the pitching staff. But only make the deal if you can still get Bryce next offseason.

Id be thrilled with 4/100 with a fifth year at 27 which either vests if he kicks ass all four years, or has a team option otherwise with a 10m buyout. (So essentially 4/110).

If you could sign Machado long term in advance of the trade, I would think Montgomery and Hendricks would not be an overpay and should get the deal done. Move Machado to short, as he desires, then trade all those future MVPs for pitching to cover the openings.

The shit about dealing with the Orioles though is that you put a deal in place that all sides agree on and that owner still will nix it.

Not sure I'd do that. I'd rather have Hendricks, Harper, Russell in 2019 and on than Machado and some maybes. You weaken the pitching and the defense, and create too many question marks.

A high IQ low effort pitcher that knows how to pitch. He has to be among the lowest injury risk pitchers in baseball. He almost an automatic hang up.

He game six against the Dodgers is the most underrated post season performance there is. Pitched the minimum number of batters to close out a team on the road. #stud.
