I upgraded to gig speed in November. I am getting about 1.2-1.3 gig on the ethernet connected computers. The wifi is slower, but you know, large Pulte home and all.

It’s like I posted earlier, the love or hate with the plan is political jockeying. The Dems knew that a corporate fix was needed, and that is largely what this plan was all about. The individual portion is rather small, and it was an effort at simplification. The sausage factory that is Congress conspired to dilute the benefits of simplification with leaving itemization in place and too many brackets and the AMT. Oh well.

AT&T is giving $1,000 bonuses to 200,000 employees after tax bill

AT&T is paying bonuses of $1,000 to more than 200,000 U.S. employees.
AT&T's CEO said it was in response to tax reform.

The company also increased its capital expenditures budget by $1 billion in the U.S.

"Congress, working closely with the President, took a monumental step to bring taxes paid by U.S. businesses in line with the rest of the industrialized world," CEO Randall Stephenson said in a statement. "This tax reform will drive economic growth and create good-paying jobs. In fact, we will increase our U.S. investment and pay a special bonus to our U.S. employees."

AT&T plans to lay off and fire more than a thousand workers starting early next year, according to local reports.

Across the Midwest, an estimated 600 workers were notified they were being laid off by the company on December 16, a week before AT&T announced it was doling out $1,000 bonuses to 200,000 of its employees in celebration of the Republican Party’s tax overhaul.

The telecommunications giant told the Chicago Tribune in a statement that the most of the affected workers are from its landline and other legacy service sectors, but the company did not say how many workers total would still be employed in 2018.
