I don't understand the Yelp thing. New customers weren't allowed to post reviews before? What?

It doesn’t say new, it says now. Basically it’s protection against penalty charges by businesses for posting negative reviews (most notably http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/midwest/indiana/ct-hotel-negative-review-charge-20171220-story.html)

Cliff Clavin time ...

Back on the other continent, different grains were grown in different regions .... barley, wheat, etc. The catch-all term for whatever grain it is that grew well for you or for your region was simply referred to as 'corn' .... similar to words like car, bike, TV, etc ... they don't tell you anything specific.

The devil white man had to come across the ocean to learn of another corn ... maize. Naturally, as they would've back home, they called it corn. I don't know exactly how corn became 'Corn' ... because I don't care. All I care about is getting good sweet corn to be a butter and salt delivery platform.

Yeah, I'm with you entirely on that. This whole fluid gender and > 2 genders is a special kind of nonsense. A person can call themselves a shovel if they want, I'm not obliged to pretend I don't think they're batshit loony.

Yesterday on WBBM they also reported that corn was also being named as the official state vegetable as well.

From what I know, this is all related to kiniyot. Kitniyot is a Hebrew word meaning legumes, but during the Passover holiday, the word kitniyot takes on a broader meaning to also include grains and seeds such as rice, corn, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, soybeans, peas, and lentils.

According to Orthodox Ashkenazi laws, kitniyot may not be eaten during Passover by Jews. Although Reform and Conservative Ashkenazi Judaism currently allow for the consumption of kitniyot during Passover, there is a long-standing tradition in these and other communities is to abstain from their consumption.

However, as I recall, according to Torat Eretz Yisrael and Minhagei Eretz Yisrael, any Jew worldwide, regardless of origin, and despite the practice of their forefathers, may eat kitniyot on Passover, deeming it a practice rejected as an unnecessary precaution by Halachic authorities as early as the time of its emergence.

As a child, I used to think that undigested corn in my feces was a sign that something was wrong with my digestive system. However, I was never comfortable bringing up the subject with my parents so there I went with a fear that I had some illness. Then, when I got to an age when I was losing my teeth, it was an incredibly painful for me to eat corn. My teeth were sensitive and still are to this day. My mother would yell at me for not eating my vegetables and I would cry that it hurt. My parents found this preposterous. Little did they know that even if I ate the corn I was not eating my vegetables but the wisdom of the age was different then.

Which brings us to the point of why I was examining my stool for bits of undigested corn as a child in the first place
