Heard a caller on Kaplans show remind me that Theo has been here 7 years, Hasn't gotten one starting pitcher to add to this team. That's a lot of rounds and by sheer luck should have a couple guys that be 4th or 5th starters. I don't even think he drafted anybody in Boston of note.

It's been discussed a lot. The hit rate on pitchers in the draft is much lower than hitters by some estimates almost half as reliable. As such, they loaded up on position players and used the surplus to trade for what they need. It seems to have worked up until now.

Drafting pitching is definitely not his strong spot. Other than Clay Bucholz, not sure who else you could point to. I believe Lester was pre Theo.

Of course when your philosophy is to draft position players in the top rounds, its natural you'll have less pitching.

His strength is trades. Need a few good ones this off season.

Drafted pitchers have only thrown a total of 30 innings for the Cubs and that's in 6 drafts. That's almost impossible to believe.

I saw the 30 inning thing yesterday. Pathetic.

Have his position player drafts been much better? Bryant at #2 has obviously worked out, but the rest are question marks.

He found enough pitching to win three World Series. What difference does it make how he got it? I just don't get the fascination with the draft and homegrown prospects.

Yeah if it was a budget deal I could see it, but they've gotten SOLID pitching from other teams.

Two SOLID opinions from sox nation. Completely agree, also they haven’t been keeping players around long enough to reach majors. Dylan cease was a pretty highly rated pitcher and they just flipped him in part for Quintana. Theo is selling everyone in the minors whenever he can.

Let’s leave the low hanging trolling fruit for good dolphin.

They have been draft heavy and IFA heavy on pitching lately but most if it is still in the low minors except Tseng who should see some action this year. 7 of their top 10 prospects are pitchers...

He told you what he was going to do. Draft position players and “find” pitching. He did that pretty much.

Yep.

I mean he seems better at drafting position players but that's fine. If I had to pick being better at one or the other in the draft Id probably want everyday players.

I think Theo thinks his pitching should be better...that's why he fired Bosio.

A better exercise: Name me a really good pitcher drafting GM.

Who did Rizzo draft besides Strasburg? Roark, Ross and Gio were traded. Scherzer was FA.

Storen, Giolito, and Strasburg is better than most gm's.

Giolito has 66 innings pitched in the majors. Calm your tits.

The Giants/Brian Sabean did pretty good when they nailed Lincecum, Cain, and Bumgarner in the span of 6 drafts.

Omar Minaya actually got Harvey and De Grom in same draft.

"Power arm" is 20 teens equivalent to 2003 "athletic build".

Guys like Theo never will get it.

Lots of butthurt in this thread.
It's kind of surprising given that the world series win was over a year ago.
Look the sox are a team on the rise. Concentrate on that.

Did a Sox fan start this honest thread Sandy?

I don't know what he is.
But I didn't say anything specific about OP. You knew that.

Besides RR, and that was pretty tame the other Sox fans were complimenting Theo.
