Sam's Club was ok but I have to celebrate any sign that Wal-Mart is in trouble.

Yeah but Costco pays their employees like $20 an hour . No way can they compete with such high labor costs .

Exactly. The pizza there is like $12 a slice to compensate!

Quite the opposite...$1.50 for a footlong hotdog and a large fountain drink!

If it was then it would cost half as much to run.

That was the joke.

It hearkens back to the debates of raising the minimum wage and therefore paying $83 dollars for a Big Mac to make up for it.

Wow, 7 closures in Illinois, and this after closing Woodridge last fall (which pissed off several of my friends).

I'm a little worried this will embolden Costco to raise membership fees again, but I get so much value out of them just from rental car savings, gasoline, OTC meds, and rotisserie chicken that I'd probably still pay it.

Yeah, but in Costco's case, I'm sure the hotdog, as well as the $4.99 rotisserie chickens, are loss leaders.

Seems to me that letting them know they are out of a job before they show up for their shift would be working with them.

That is a pretty big fuck you. Just letting them show up to a shuttered store.

I know nothing about Costco but I would guess this is where you will find your living wage surcharge. But if people decide to pay it and everyone is cool then that is how it should be.

You clearly know nothing about Costco. They already pay almost all employees a living wage. The only difference to them is that many suppliers may raise prices some.

True, you never know, but I thought I read a while back that Coscto actually uses fresh poultry for their rotisserie chickens, in contrast to many supermarkets that use the unsold birds on the shelves that have gone past their expiration dates.

You speak alot about topics you know nothing about.

The membership fee is like $50/year. You can probably eat that amount in free samples over the course of a year's worth of shopping.
