Movie. Lewis was as usual amazing but I found the story to be simplistic. One of those good acting but mediocre story kind of things for me. His lover was a good contrast.

I admit PT Anderson is losing me lately, so I will try to see this for as free as possible.

I’m sure it beats a Beardown thread though.

You'll need peace and quiet for the dialogue. Sounds obvious but Lewis talks so fast at times that I missed what he was saying due to the dumbasses laughing out loud behind me. He played his eccentricities really well.

Will do. I'm fascinated by him. He's almost too good - I find myself more intrigued by some of his characters than I am with the movie he's in. And these are good movies (there will be blood, etc).

I'm a big DDL fan, and he hardly ever gets any kudos for "In The Name Of The Father"....what a great movie!!!

Yes, that is a great movie. I mean he is great in everything he is in, “Father” is a great film about the Troubles era too.

There's a movie on Nexflix called 66, about Bobby Sands, that I'd recommend as well if you're interested in The Troubles.

Been meaning to check it out. Same with “Hunger”.

But the most powerful is “Elephant”. Not the piece of shit Gus Van Sant “movie”. It’s a short film.

The Phantom Menace is the best Star Wars film.

If Hunger is the movie with Michael Sheen, yeah, that one's pretty intense too.

I'll be passing.

I saw it solo at Landmark Renaissance Highland Park at 1:30 today. The 4:10 showing was sold out.
Everyone else in a 25% full smallish auditorium were typical Highland Park couples......
Personally, I loved it. Set designs, costumes, (THE MUSIC), the acting (of course) were all top-notch.
DDL was excellent as usual, but he didn't have to go postal method with this role. The woman who plays his sister was great,
but the best performance was by newcomer Vicky Krieps. I don;t know if this is her first role, but I guess she's from Luxembourg,
and she was absolutely brilliant. Seemed like an old pro, though I'd never heard of her before.
Great script by PTA, some laugh out loud lines, and the movie had a bunch of great quotable lines.
I would totally recommend it, it's out on Blu-ray on 4/10.
One gripe that has nothing to do with the film itself.
According to IMDB, it was only showing in 2 theaters nearest to me (Milwaukee and Highland Park).
Google has it listed as playing in Round Lake Beach. Closer, but not as nice as HP.
The problem is, I could've seen it for free in RLB, as Landmark HP doesn't honor MoviePass.
:x
$11.50 for a Saturday matinee???......at least I didn't have to pay for parking I guess. And it was worth the $11.50 anyway.
2 thumbs up.
