Weak dollar can be good. Not sure why people are upset by that.

Sure, it may make foreigners want to buy American goods at a discount but there are drawbacks that more than offset that. A weak U.S. Dollar is not good for the U.S.

A good piece on how the media botched the tariff story by focusing on solar panels (which very few people have) and ignored the washing machines (which everyone has)

If Trump wins in 2020, it will once again be because of things like this. The tariffs on washing machines would directly harm Trump voters in the wallet yet the media once again blew their coverage of the story and never really delivered that message.

I'd also say it's newsworthy that he would try to ignite economic tensions with South Korea, a key ally and a nation Trump needs to contain the North.

I don't understand the outrage over this. Isn't this precisely what a tariff is supposed to do? Raise prices on imports so that people are more inclined to buy American made products? Seem to me like Trump wins again.

He loses actually because countries will instead place retaliatory tariffs on our goods, which will turn this into a trade war. In the end all parties pay higher prices for goods and more jobs end up being lost to the trade war than saved via the tariff in the 1st place.

Even if you can afford it, it still effects your disposable income. It's not like the 60% you cited are millionaires. Even if your income is in the 6 figures, it's still a big ticket item and a 20-50% increase in its price is going to be felt.

Ok, so broaden that thought. Are you ok with paying more across the board. A tariff is a tax on the consumer. The American manufacturer who couldn’t compete without government intervention wins. Those looking to make a purchase lose.
