Nikola Mirotic on OK'ing potential trade: "We're going to do what’s best for the team, for me"

Fuck GarPax and Buckwheat Porttis

@KCJHoop: Mirotic is at team hotel. Hoiberg said its undetermined if he’ll leave trip and fly back to Chicago.

Hey, maybe they'll trade him for Okafor. He's due to arrive here soon, right?

I have serious doubts that GarPax can make a decent trade before the deadline.

Serbian piece of shit. That Pelicans deal was really good. It was going to net the Bulls a pick around 10-15 in addition to their top 5 pick. And he fucking railroaded it.

Good for him.

The Bulls hold a team option on him for next season, so they will probably just let him walk for nothing and he can choose any destination he wants next year. If he were to accept the move to New Orleans, the Pelicans would probably pick up his affordable option for next year. He will get paid this offseason if he can shed that team option for next season on his current deal.

He wants his option picked up. That's what screwed the Pels deal. 2018 NBA free agency is going to suck for the players because many teams won't have cap space. The Pels didn't want to commit on his option because they want to sign Cousins AND avoid the tax.

You can't demand a trade then fuck trade attempts the team has for you. There is a reason Portis punched this guy out and everyone had his back.

Yeah I agree. With the year that he is having he'll probably garner more dough even if the option isn't picked up. There is some clause about losing "Bird rights" whatever the hell that happens to be. If he really wants out then he had an opportunity to leave and he declined it.

New Orleans is finalizing deal to acquire Nikola Mirotic, league sources tell ESPN.

Parkins saying it's done ... they're taking on quite a bit of salary (Omar + Jameer Nelson? Tony Allen?) in exchange for that 1st round pick, but that's just fine in my world.

Also, Bulls give 2nd, get 1st with an option to swap 2nd round with them in the next couple-three years if the Bulls want.

Time to root for the Pelicans to lose-out the rest of the season.

Woj saying it is a 2018 1st round pick with minimal protections

Good deal for the Bulls. New Orleans had to make a move in as a means of making the playoffs. Bulls will have 2 top 15 picks in this draft with one of them possibly being a top 5 pick. They have to deal Lopez and Holiday now.

First-round pick the Pelicans are sending Chicago in Mirotic trade is protected 1-5 in 2018, per source, with gradual easing of protections in subsequent years.

It would take an act of God for that pick to be top 5, so essentially the Bulls are getting it this year.

Could turn into a top 10. Davis is bound to get injured at some point and even if he doesn't I think it can at least be a top 12.

Seems like it is done this time. Only Top 5 protected? Jesus christ, Bulls won this trade.

I guess it had to happen. But I really look at it as a failure of the Bulls org to manage this guy's career. The guy's skill set is absolutely amazing IMO.

Have you paid attention at all to his time in Chicago before the last couple months?

if bulls would have backed niko after the incident would he still be on the team? Or was niko's resentment towards organization/teammates already there? It still doesnt seem like aenough haul for a guy who is only 26 and finally showing to be useful.... all because they didnt just fire a low ceiling bum like portis?

I really don't see why the Bulls didn't just guarantee Mirotic's option instead of giving up a 2nd. Wait, yes I do, and the reason is Reinsdorf.

my guess is he was pissed off at them for not giving him a better long term deal. Then the Portis thing happened and he could have caused some real shit for the org I think. Lawsuits, police reports, etc. They made him a deal. Let this issue slide and we will trade you.
