Rosenstein, who now presides over Mueller, approved an application to extend a surveillance warrant which at least in part used political opposition research as the underpinning of probable cause, but neglected to mention who commissioned said dossier.

Trump should wait for the Dem memo to trickle through whatever the "11G" process Ryan referenced, but I think this would be cause to fire Rosenstein, and that's the best, most probably-not-illegal-or-corrupt way to end the Mueller investigation available.

Yeah, people are definitely going to try to pain it as such, and I can't deny how it looks like that. Still, though, it's probably better to set the precedent that it's not acceptable professional practice to use political opposition research as part of your probable cause on an application for a warrant to spy on a US Citizen. If Trump can just stick to that talking point, and not make it about himself ( ) people will have to eventually accept that he's right.

I would assume this "Dossier" is now toxic in terms of trying to convict anyone of anything. A quick glance would make it appear that this Steele guy, funded as he was, and so desperate to stop Trump could or would have "compiled" anything.

The special investigation is all borne of this. After the election they cast out the nets looking for anything to get Trump to slip up and hang himself. They ended up with Mueller to try to help him along. The only people in trouble are the ones that got caught up lying during the investigation and/or already panicked and plead guilty.

Also, the FBI and Dems should really stop referring to this as a "counterintelligence investigation", because that's one of the more nuanced points some believe can also nix Mueller's probe.
