In a storm like this you can count The Sovreign to be open

My friend's dad would give us money and tell him to go buy him beer from there back in the day. Now, the family was customers forever but they would sell alcohol to two young high school kids in the middle of the without even asking a question.

Fair to say this storm was overblown by media/weather nerds? It's a decent accumulation but nothing worthy of the Armageddon predictions...grocery store raids..etc...

The forecast was pretty accurate on Wednesday, but by yesterday they got a bit crazy.

Of course it was. Storm coverage is ratings gold for local media so they hammer it into the ground. They probably get payoffs from places like Jewel so idiots will be convinced they need enough food to last them an entire month.

MANY of the predictions I heard was 8"-14"of snow from the time it started snowing last night thru Saturday when the entire storm is over. It appears that forecast is going to be proven correct.

We have gotten at least 8" since it started snowing yesterday. It is still really coming down. We will likely end up with a foot or so.

I don't want to sound like a crazy old guy, but this wouldn't have been close to a snow day when I was in school. Driving isn't even bad. My wife's company closed the office today. It's ridiculous. Fucking Chicago and we can't function after a few inches of snow. Pussification of America.

I agree that this was not a snow day when I was in school.

The roads this morning were pretty bad, though. They weren't impassable, but it was pretty much impossible to go faster than about 20-25mph without sliding.

They haven't had any weather days. It's pretty bad out my window.

There is easily 8" of snow on my roof. Which means that there is at least 10" on the ground. I'm not leaving until Sunday. Will be shooting blanks all weekend.
