Ogie did, referring to other gun owners, if people tried to take away AR-15s.

I can also point to Ruby Ridge and Waco as examples of what will happen if you want to go down the gun confiscation path. Yes people will be willing to lay down their life for their firearms and you can expect blowback like Oklahoma City when citizens die at the hands of the ATF.

That's not a hypothetical, this actually happened.

Are you trying to argue your point by comparing gun owners to David Koresh?

I'm saying the raid was started as a gun confiscation and that the violence which resulted from that raid led directly to Oklahoma City as an act of retribution.

I'm not justifying it, but I'm saying that it is how it played out and thus it is reasonable to say that similar raids could result in such events. History has a way of repeating itself.

So basically you are saying, if we press gun legislation, gun owners like yourself are willing to kill innocent women and children?

I'm saying that if gun owners are killed in a government raid, it will breed anger which can lead to blowback. You can draw a direct line from Ruby Ridge to Waco to Oklahoma City as a chain of events.

Now I'm taking the logical jump which is that every person who tried to confiscate any gun even if made illegal would be shot to death.

So he never threatened anybody then? A decent person would apologize to him for the slander.

Where did I say he personally did? He chose to speak for all gun owners. He didn't say if he is shooting an LEO that wants his illegal AR15. Maybe he can clarify he would willing turn it over.

It’s ok to admit you spoke out of turn man. In fact, in this case, I would very much recommend it.

I know where this goes. You pretend I meant him personally when I clearly was referring to gun owners and his statements. We then have four posts going back and forth about what I actually meant and you stick to whatever interpretation is best for you.

Instead, I'll say this: Ogie, speaking on the behalf of gun owners, threatened to kill everyone if their AR15s were confiscated.

Either accept that or go on thinking I meant Ogie was personally going to kill everyone.

Brick I get that you're trying to be funny but this comes off, to me, as tone deaf given the events of the week. Part of the equation of comedy is time as well as tragedy.

All joking aside, Ogie has more than anyone I can remember expressed very violent views. He's openly celebrated the death of some police officers that he saw as abusing their power, expressed joy when a cop drowned during the Houston floods just because he was a cop, and said he wouldn't mind if most lawmakers outside of Rand Paul and a few others met a violent end. I can look this stuff up if anyone cares. Or Ogie can just confirm it - he's pretty consistent in these views. I'm sure if Ogie were in a serious setting he wouldn't say what he's said above, but he's certainly said these things on the board. I'm not sure what Rick is referring to because I haven't read the whole thread, but based on the above I don't think he's too off-base in inferring what he's inferred.

This is still blatantly untrue. Please point out the post where he says this if you disagree.

You’re digging yourself deeper here man. Just say you misspoke and move on.

None of the examples you mentioned were even close to the definition of threatening. Words have meanings still in 2018, right?

Like i said man didn't read the thread so I can't back Rick up. But it wouldn't surprise me if it were true, given the examples.

It’s blatantly untrue. Also, suggesting “I’m not sad these people died” or “Gun owners will violently revolt if you try to confiscate their guns” is synonymous with “I’m threatening to kill these people” is a pretty shitty road to go down, imo.

Like I said, either words have meaning or they don’t. It’s very troubling that as a society we are trending towards the latter.

Ogie is very wrong on the Micah Johnson stuff, specifically because the DPD was among the leaders in the country in police reform and would’ve been one of the worst departments to choose for this specific vendetta, but once again, being wrong and having bad opinions about why certain murders were justified is still a very far cry from threatening to kill people.

Is it ok that I ask you guys to tone down the hyperbole?

Not surprising to see FF jump on the "celebrate law enforcement murder" train.

But Mike doing so is an unfortunate look.

Who is the bigger coward: the police officer or the guy fantasizing online about murdering police officers?

I've notice Ogie get...friendly...with the idea of violence towards police as retribution for perceived wrongs, on more than one occasion. I never assessed it as in any way credible or threatening. Instead, given his views in other political arenas, I always saw it as an outlet of pent-up frustration at something (police abusing their authority to hurt citizens) so fundamentally contrary to our way of life and notions of freedom. It's in the same vein as BLM'ers with similar, or the exact same, views, or those jailhouse dudes clapping for Bauer's murderer as he was lead through the holding area: It might not actually be about a desire to commit violence on police officers as retribution or fighting against tyranny—and I personally prefer this view, because I think that most humans are good—but god damnit, it is just so wrong that police officers can get off so easily after taking the life of an unarmed/nonviolent civilian, because things aren't supposed to be that way (right?!). Or so the thinking goes.

As a former promulgator of these types of views and this type of toxic rhetoric, I will hope Ogie sees it all as rather childish and ultimately counter productive sooner rather than later, as I hope all people who hold similar ideas do, but I cannot deny their thought processes: It appears really, really, prevalent, and at first blush is so egregiously counter to our supposed ideals of laws and process.
