I guess if the FBI is involved, it must be pretty bad, but the NCAA has survived this before (for better or for worse).

Of course, if they start taking teams down, the Illini just may sneak into that tournament and go on a feel-good run that stuns a nation . . .

It's time for the universities to just say "fuck it" and leave the NCAA and go pro as a set of intertwined U23 leagues with a salary cap, tuition waivers, and some kind of promotion and relegation system. Let the Madison Badgers play the Lansing Spartans.

CBS & TNT won't like that for their $8.1 billion.

They wont want to pay the taxes on all the profits they currently make and signing bonuses they have been handing out.

Whenever everything and what teams are affected comes out, going to be interesting to see what happens because of it or does anything happen.

No thanks. Make the educational connection stronger. Don't remove it.

Pay the players as employees for sports related activities. Have stricter education requirements. Punish academic fraud harder.

Drop down to D3 then. Very few people care or will care about education in big time D1 athletics.

That's the point. Return to the point of college athletics rather than make the Lansing Spartans.

Way too much money involved at this point to turn back.

Sad that the FBI is wasting time on this. Should've paid attention to Florida teen gunman!

It goes away with the Lansing Spartans too.

Graduate students are furious that their tuition waivers for research or teaching assistants are going to possibly be considered taxable. Wouldn't the same go for athletes?

Good thing the FBI has spent so much time looking in to college basketball recruiting violations and not tips received on possible school shooters

1) guarantee every scholarship until graduation, irrespective of time frame
2) relax in season academic requirements to only 1-2 classes per semester
3) return to mandatory freshman red shirt for all

players would need 10-15 years to graduate. Even if you limit it to when actual games are being played (not practice only), basketball is both semesters. Might as well just go all the way and have make actual school optional.

You need t o pass two classes to be eligible as Freshmen at the end of first semester. You can take Bowling and PE, then not go to class second semester and play. Now if you plan on staying longer than a year it gets harder.

The kids genuinely interested in education load up in the summer and then drop down to nine/twelve hours per semester during the year.

Peanut Tillman now an FBI agent. He probably knows the back channels of college sports.

Or maybe he will investigate Trump or not investigate reports of possible school shooters.
