Local kid(for me) Evan Watkins signed on with NU. I saw him play a couple of times. Big kid 6'6" with a nice arm, quirky delivery but that can be taught. He has some speed and can roll outside the pocket. Looks like a good pickup.

Football. He took Glenbard North to the 8A FInals as a Junior. Was recruited by several other Big Ten schools.

First time we've had a QB with size! Super excited about this one! (EDITOR'S NOTE: Mud was also very excited when the Brown's recruited Tim Couch).

We also got a guy either last year or the year prior named Joe Mauro from Texas who is near 6'6". Evan looks more mobile and has more arm strength. I still think alot of the QB thing is mental... and Evan appears to have that quality on the highlight reel I saw. He's got some quirky mechanics, but I think they can straighten him out. Regardless, I like the fact we landed a good local kid. Fitz has been doing a pretty good job locally... I'm not ready to "crown his ass," but I am encouraged.

Yes! Brett Basanez and Zak Custok and Steve Schnur will now be forgotten!

Awwwww c'mon... we'll never forget those guys. Zak and Steve are still living around Chicago. I've seen them more than a couple of times. Steve's got some kids near my kids' age and I see them in Hinsdale every now and then. Baz is still with the Jaguars last I heard... He's been able to hang on, which is pretty impressive given that he sure wasn't built like a NFL QB.

NIU and Iowa had offers to him as well, but he went for the education and I don't blame him one bit.
