I'm confident I could argue my way out of it.

We've already covered this, but what Nas said.

I'm sad to see this.
But not surprised

Well I answered this exact question the exact same way when Ogie asked me, but ok...

Ok then. Thanks. I guess I don't read every work you commit to the site. Either way I'm not shocked that you wouldn't fight for your rights. I expect that a guy like you wouldn't.

Agreed.

I mean I'd argue that without the first amendment the rest are just a matter of time to fall. Your children would likely live under a totalitarian government and live shorter shittier lives. This one is the one that supports all the others. It's the first domino. It would be for the life of your kids.

Well baby is willing to comply with no 1st amendment and you're willing to die to put him there so I suppose you guys are a perfect match and we could call this an agreeable synergy.

LOL.

So you’re against free speech but fancy yourself a defender of western civilization?

Your troll game is weakening by the month, man.

So you're saying if the Second Amendment was repealed tomorrow you would use your guns to fire on the LEOs who were tasked with rounding the guns up?

I disagree. Inalienable is pretty clear. It’s not dependent on the courage of those getting the rights.

I'm saying that if someone told me I'd go to jail for speaking my mind without infringing on the rights of others they're in for a fight. This would cause a civil war. I would join the fight yes. This country is worth defending. Our way of life is worth defending. Too many hundreds of thousands or perhaps millions died to grant us these freedoms from the government and I'm not going to be the guy pissing on that.

Oh, well in that case, any one who didn't join the military doesn't deserve them. Guess Toxic Masculinity and FF are the only true Americans.

That’s a pretty solid coward mantra. You should trademark it and sell t shirts of it to liberals who cry about Trump. Capitalism at its finest.

Yes. I suppose you're right. I suppose this is what happens when most people never had to really earn anything, they were simply given it

So you're throwing out a hypothetical situation that has no chance of actually happening in order to illustrate your feelings on the gun debate. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure you have frowned upon those types of discussions in the past.

I generally agree with Darko.

I can’t see it getting that bad in our lifetimes but if it did and the 1A was officially repealed and political speech was criminalized then diplomacy is officially off the table, obviously.

I understand the move argument put forth by KD but FUCK THAT. This is my home. I’m never going to live anywhere else.

Gotta go w/ FF here ... not sure how one litigates against inalienable without outright deeming that attribution invalid, in which case it's a free-for-all at that point.

This is already imminent and will happen within a decade.

edit- maybe not an official repeal, but they'll criminalize speech that "oppresses people" which is functionally identical.

I'm keeping this conversation within the confines of the first amendment. That's the one that all others rely upon. If you're willing to just give in it tells me a lot about you.
Does it really have no chance of happening? Perhaps not in your or my lifetime. But ask that question 50 years ago and you never get a response like yours I'd wager. In another 50 or 100 years, when more people are like you and willing to lay down and let a government roll over them?
Funny thing about governments is that power always corrupts. Why would our civilization be any different from pretty much every single other civilization in human history?
