I was speaking of the developed world as a whole. Heck, anyone can get an emergency food supply kit from Sam's Club or Costco for $100 and be safe for a month, or even longer if they want to spend more.

Your biggest problem if you aren’t trolling is that you seriously underestimate Americans ability and willingness to fight and die for what they believe in. Free speech isn’t going anywhere in my lifetime without a full blown civil war.

He's living in fucking France, a country that literally waves the white flag at the 1st sign of adversity.

Russia invading France and making America (the poster) a bitch of some guy named Yuri in some Siberian gulag is a more likely scenario than any of the ones presented by America in this thread.

MREs have gotten better since my first one but I refuse to eat that shit outside of Afghanistan or Iraq.

If push came to shove I would eat it ahead of dog food.

No it won’t. There will always be a couple of examples of LEOs overstepping their bounds on this but that’s nothing new. You’re simply wrong if you think something as drastic as the repeal of the 1A will happen by 2028.

No. It won't. Not suddenly. Slowly. We'll go out with a whimper.

Are you trying to get to some point where the hate speech laws and political correctness on campuses are bring us to the edge of the slippery slope?

It depends how it happens. If it was done legally and passed the challenges in the courts then I wouldn't. In an extreme circumstance where it gets legally repealed by getting an amendment passed then I'd accept it just like I wouldn't have died to keep slavery or alcohol legal. I truly do believe that the Constitution is a living document and that includes all parts of it.

Now, I can't imagine that happening but who knows what things are like in 50 years. If we as a society decide to change the Constitution who am I to say my views are more important and I presumably will attempt to get my way through violence?

Now, if Trump declared the Constitution void tomorrow and turned us into North Korea (still better than Hillary though) then yes I would fight to the death.

Oh, and I'm sure if Trump declared the Constitution void that JLN would just say he was a bad speaker while saying his point was mostly right.

A college baseball coach was just fired for saying in a private email that he doesn't like players from Colorado because they can't piss clean. This was jumped on as...I don't know even what do you call discrimination against people who use recreational drugs...and now the guy is a pariah in the media and out of a job.

If you don't see how close the USA is to losing free speech I don't know what else you're looking for.

America has been taking Neymar's injury pretty badly. It sucks when your home team's star in your favorite sport gets hurt, but lashing out isn't going to help anything.

Calling me any sort of soccer fan is infinitely more offensive and cuts far deeper than calling me a delicious pastry that very few of you have ever actually eaten in a form that can even be described as mediocre.

I want to believe you are correct but I really don't think so.

Also, I don't believe it would happen the way some of you imagine. It's not gonna be some Trump-like dope being a dictator and ordering you to shut up. It begins with silencing stuff that is easy to silence, like "the n-word" for example. You see we can't even type it and instead use a childish construction although we all know what it means. But who is going to argue for the right to use that word? Some will, but you look like an asshole if you do. And it expands from there. Sure, that word offends Regular Reader, but guaranteed there are guys here offended by the word "retarded" or even "fat". The next thing you know free speech doesn't exist. The First Amendment isn't designed to protect my ability to say, "You guys are all wonderful!" That requires no protection. Although now that I think about it, Baby and BRick might argue about it.

How the fuck can anyone say this with any sort of certainty like there's some fucking law of physics that somehow governs how this shit works? Where did you even read that? Slate? Was it based on an """impartial""" study by a sociology professor at Karl Marx University?

But political correctness is only the tip of the spear. You have more and more groups on college campuses thinking the first amendment should be restricted or even canned due to their inherent belief of not wanting to be offended. These derelicts will graduate and spread their bullshit to others and eventually procreate to continue the cycle. It will only get worse. It's not going to be fast, but it will slowly fester.

btw there is a mini-scandal breaking out in France over the misuse of an anti-Islam law meant to humiliate, jail and oppress those swine to bully right-wing politicians who share the true face of Islam. So its not like free speech laws are doing well everywhere.

The difference is France is still almost entirely ethnic French, unlike the USA which is a complete mudpit, so they handle this shit like civilized people unlike the USA where an actual terrorist group has become a media darling.

Yeah, but it's getting worse. Schools didn't spend hundreds of thousands of dollars just to provide security for a conservative speaker from all the crazies 50 years ago either. And that is if the speaker actually gets on campus. Usually the school caves to the will of the crazies. Or did schools ban certain "offensive" words 50 years ago?

I'm guessing they've said this about colleges for at least 50 years.

What the hell are you talking about? College was once where people went to exchange ideas. You have some strange world views.

Probably Rick. But you have to at least acknowledge those who wonder how and if the PC type limits we see now will expand greatly.

Political correctness and free speech are only connected in a small way.

Yeah. Colleges were never like this especially during the Vietnam War.
