that's just fucked up, but also not even surprising. I guess I just have no faith in our justice system

That judge should be disbarred, since it's likely too late to prosecute or sue him(if it's not already in progress)

But it being Texas, he's probably a hero in many circles.

This would be true in most places. People love their big government when it's "law and order" government. It's no wonder so many so-called small government people line-up to lick boots of cops and claim bullshit like Blue Lives Matter.

No wonder I despise the modern GOP

There are a million stories coming out of Texas including iirc one where the lawyer for a guy charged with murder kept falling asleep during trial.

The Morris guy probably needed some prison justice but if a judge thinks this is fine what else has he done.

Most public defenders are awful people, look no further than a former one who transitioned to radio. Given her belief that all men who are accused of rape are guilty, do you think she probably threw some cases she handled on such matters?

Lets leave Julie out of this, she isn't representative of most PDs. Most/many are dedicated, but swamped and over matched by the superior resources and easier job of the state's attorney's offices.

I know nothing about that field, but I can't believe he said that he thought his client was not really shocked.

fair point that she is probably the worst of that bunch, but I guess it does show that there are probably a good number of people in Illinois prisons who deserve a new trial because they had her "representing" them.
