I am just getting my Cc for work. I went and shot handguns the other day. We're currently shooting 9mm's. The trainer brought another gun for us to check out...it was also considered a 9mm pistol. It was no hand gun.

Technically it's called a "tactical pistol". This was a serious weapon. It had a collapsible butt, a place to hold it on the barrel with the opposite hand, and a sight you looked through that put a red target on whatever you were aiming at. Easy to swap out 30 round magazine.

It was fun to shoot, had zero kick and, with that sight, it was virtually impossible to miss what you were aiming at. I couldn't help but think this weapon should only be legal at the gun range or to the police or military. A psycho could easily have 10 magazines loaded up and hide the folded up gun inside a coat. Way to dangerous a weapon for the general public.

You aren't exactly a big fan of mine so it's not shocking you look at it that way.

Actually brick I am a fan. I think you like beating dead horses and I think you start shit for fun but that's not enough to make you a bad guy.
Anyway, I'll tell you why i said what I said.
Ogie said automatic fire is useless. Ok. We can debate that.
But your meme is that he said ar15s are useless based on his claim that automatic fire is useless.
There's a simple mistake in that line of thinking.
Does it make sense now why I said perhaps your misunderstanding is the genesis of the meme or dispute?

and again you are ignoring the fact that I qualify it as trained vs untrained and at distances of under 75 yards. At anything longer than that the pistol shooter doesn't stand a chance, but once again most mass shooters are within structures so we rarely see a case where engagement would be anywhere near 75 yards let alone beyond that.

Thats not helping you either. He was making the distinction of a skilled operator vs. an unskilled operator with a superior weapon. He's not wrong. In fact he made a point of saying a long rifle would be preferable in longer distance engagements and the rifle would be the proper choice.
There's better ways to bag on him. You've chosen a poor reason to chase him around with.
Again, I suspect that some training in this department would assist you in your arguments.

So if both are trained under 75 yards the AR15 dominates?

I believe you said that pistols would be just as effective at mass killing so I'm confused.

Well that seems a strange distinction. I'm sure a marine could beat me with his bare hands even if I had a knife too. I asked a clarifying question now.

It's not as strange as it sounds, brick.
Guns are funny little tools. Many idiot can pick up a .45 and blast away but it takes a considerable amount of training and practice to effective hit what you're aiming at and to hit your target in effective places.
I took a lot of heat from some of you guys lastnspring when I said that a handgun is not an efficient tool to kill a human being with. And although I took the heat I stand by that today. I saw a video a couple days ago that I thought about linking into that thread. It was a lady and her daughter, proprietors or a liquor store who had inadvertently locked an armed robbery inside the store (emergency doors were both supposed to lock but the outer door locked and the inner door did not). Between the two of them they ended up shooting that guy something like 12 times with two handguns. After absorbing that he still tried to take the gun from one lady and actually did get it, turned it on her and pulled the trigger but thankfully, being a wheel gun she fired dry, it was empty.
When you shoot a human with a pistol, they don't fly back, they don't go dropping immediately to the floor dead before gravity finishes it's work. Unless it's a miracle brain box shot the perp is still on his feet advancing. The army has a stat that your enemy can be alive and advancing for over 60 seconds even after taking a heart shot. Gsw's cause blood loss. Bleeding to death takes time.
I've got a video of a off duty cop who took 9 .45s and still managed to kill the perp.
Another famous one is a guy who lost a court case and followed his lawyer outside and fired 15 from 3 feet away as the lawyer was dodging with nothing more than a light post between them and the shooter scored nil hits.
I've seen shooters in front of me that missed a full sized paper target from 5 yards. I didn't think that could be possible but it is.
Skill is the single most important variable in how effective any firearm is, generally speaking. That being said the most skilled operator probably isn't hitting a target effectively at 100 yards with a pistol in which case a lesser skilled opponent at that range with a weapon designed to be more effective at range will likely retain an advantage.
Now, your average home with small rooms, tight corners and stairs may be difficult to cover effectively with a long gun. In that case a pistol with greater maneuverability will likely be more effective.
There's way too many variables here to just say an ar15 isn't effective. Or is. What's the terrain. What's the environment. What's the training level of the operator. What type of resistance is he against. What obstacles are in the path?
It's not black and white. Brick you love black and white. I don't believe you typically see this subject any other way. A bit of training and experience might help you formulate better objections and opinions.

Don't do me like that dude. I'm not like that and I never have been. Be fair in this debate. Play it like an adult if you want have an honest open discussion about it.
If you want to Be childish about it and act like an ass I'd appreciate you not making false quotes in my name.

Dude don't try and for one second back down on your stance on this. It doesn't matter if there is a weapon that has no business in the hands of civilians. You have been on the "shall not be infringed" bandwagon since this whole debate started up again.

And if I wanted people to think you actually said it I wouldn't have quoted it as "Darko"

No. I have not been on that bandwagon since the debate started up again. Not like that. You know that.
But read what I've actually said. Try to understand what I actually said. You would not come to that conclusion unless you willfully ignored what I said.
