Farrakhan only exists to appease the extremes on each side.
I can't remember the last time most took him seriously. But that thinking got us trump.
How many Twitter followers does a Jew-hater need to be taken seriously?
Twitter followers? This guy has high ranking Congressmen and leaders of marches which get millions to show up supporting him and scared to criticize him. If he is so powerless, then why can't they simply condemn him and cut ties with him.
The real answer is that black antisemitism is seen as separate from and less pernicious than European antisemitism, and thus less necessary to condemn. Blacks who hate Jews because of slumlords or slave merchants haven't carried out exiles, pogroms, or genocides as a result, and even if they wanted to, they've never had the power to do so, so it's handwaved away and more or less left alone as one of those black things outsiders can't understand, like those NBA jackets that have every team's logo on them. The fact that southern blacks all but refused to vote for a Jew in the Democratic primaries was something the media superficially acknowledged without ever exploring, and I wish they had explored it and laid this issue bare.
What you conveniently neglect to mention is that Sanders essentially wrote off the black vote in the South. Sanders stated that the black vote in the South was insignificant because Dems lose the South in the General anyway. Another thing that is difficult for some (Many in fact on here) to believe is that blacks were and are Pro-Clinton. I know many remained home but those that voted voted for the Clintons. Aside from Obama there wasn't any Dem that was going to garner the black vote. People that sought to make Sander's religion an issue are simply being foolish.
Even Farrakhan's ranting is probably due more to religion than anything. Jewish people were instrumental during the Civil Rights movement after all. It rubbed some leaders (mostly radical ones) the wrong way because they'd prefer that blacks be at the forefront of the movement in terms of planning and other things. If blacks were anti Jewish this would not have occurred. In my experiences in life there is a semblance of solidarity between what Jewish people and black people have experienced historically.
As stated before it is dangerous to equate everything with the Holocaust. It is also dangerous to equate everything with slavery. To insinuate that blacks didn't vote for Sanders because he is Jewish is ignorant and presumptuous. My reason for not voting for him was due to the fact that he wasn't a Dem and I was pro Hillary. It had nothing to do with religion. I also didn't like his policies. They were impractical and costly. I agree that there should always be a mix of socialism and capitalism but costly, reckless spending programs aren't best for the country.
I also believed that he'd have a difficult time working with members of Congress. WHy? because he has never demonstrated that he can work with members of Congress.
