I know you aren't a listener but I don't think that is really true. What doomed the show was that they built a show they wanted to listen to and didn't care about what the listeners wanted. A local sports radio show in any market cannot talk national sports as a cornerstone of the show. It just doesn't work. If the NFL is really in the thick of it you can kind of get away with it but even they you aren't getting hot takes about the Houston Texans on nearly a daily basis. Then, they doubled down by spending far too much time on "social issues" which is fine for a segment or two a week but you just can't be beat over the head with it day after day and be someone that comes back the next day excited to listen. Then, to make it even worse, you get rid of the weekly segments that defined the show for over a decade, even when they were bad, and replace it with a radio version of the TV Guide.

There was a good show there. They just badly mismanaged it and not having a producer worked because of the talent of Boers and Bernstein. Trying that a second time was a dumb decision. Hopefully Bernstein learned that lesson and we'll see a better show wherever he is.

The future holds the possibility to be great or terrible, and since it has not yet occurred it remains simultaneously both.

What I loved about Goff, and where he was at his best, was as a foil to B&B. He piped in and was funny. He does have a few solid characteristics- he is a local guy and a real sports fan. He was obviously a large consumer of daily sports programming. And while that seems like a given with sports hosts, you can tell that guys like Waddle don't pay close attention to games daily. Goff was plugged in to sports.

Rick failed miserably defending this show for a long time. Let him sneak out the back door on this one with his head up.

I loved the whole package. He chimed in perfectly. The station was much more fun when they stopped trying to saved the world and just talked like guys at a bar.

Mac and Bernstein together just couldn't work - both are alphas - neither would want to be in the back.

The one I'd like to see move up would be Laurence - time he got a better time slot. It took me a while to realize it but he's the best thing they got on that station.

Literally the only thing I defended about the show was that it was better than the borefest on ESPN, and that the ratings still had them #1 in their timeslot, and that people hated Boers and Bernstein just as much.

If it is Mac & Bernstein that's an implosion waiting to happen. I can see Mac agreeing to do it just to get back "in" but I don't see it lasting very long.
