Lot's of subtle references here...

"...and the moves make sense."

Sure you're talking about the NFL and Bears

Yup. About 15 minutes before Parkins said he can't "say anything" until tomorrow.

of course so they had to thinly veil it, but everyone listening knows exactly what they just said.

They are both the future of the station. This was a good day for both.

Bernstein is being demoted to middays, not a good day for him as he is off the drive times and just had the shot across his bow. Parkins is the only one promoted of the two

"Demotion" feels harsh. Dan had to know this was coming, and likely will do something more interesting in middays.

Yes, but as others have said, Mac will just get bored again and walk away once more. I'll give him till the Bears season is looking bleak (so maybe week 3 of the NFL season), then he's gone.

Didn't Laurence have a similar line when the Bulls deal was announced?

Mac has seen life without this job and he doesn't want to return to that. He'll stick it out

I dont listen much, but Ive heard Dan talk about how the afternoon slot was perfect for him and his family, so if he's acting like he's down with the time slot change, I find that hard to believe.

Is "Mac will quit in x months" the new "Great show today?"

Great transition today. No giggling or talking over one another.

How ironic. I wonder if "Can't Do It!" will survive the shakeup.

I thought the transition was incredibly boring, evidence of why each of them needs decent partners. And given the Feder and Rosenthal reports, insane that they stayed home (so to speak).

I wouldn't exactly call it a demotion. He's still doing the same job. His partner retired and the new show didn't work out so there was a restructuring of the lineup looking for something that works better.

If they weren't happy with Bernstein then he'd be gone too.

Give it up Rick. When the tv news station takes the 10pm anchor and moves him to 5pm it is a demotion.

Give it up Rick. When the tv news station takes the 10pm anchor and moves him to 5pm it is a demotion.

You can also equate this from being moved from a top 6 role to a bottom 6 role. It's a demotion.

If you schedule the shows where it's The Dan Bernstein Show from noon-3 and Mac & Parkins from 3-7, you could argue he keeps two hours of his original shift and has the whole show to himself, so he's kinda still in afternoons but not really.

The guy has been sleepwalking for nearly a decade, so I don't think any of these thoughts are off. Gloop was way ahead on this, the board needs him more now than ever.

Mac will finally have the afternoon drive spot he's coveted since he came back.

Maybe that keeps him motivated.

I took it as both Dan n Danny were very happy that motor mouth meathead Goff is gone.

Hopefully they'll get Grote some sort of role on the afternoon show and get him off the Bears beat. Parkins like running shows solo, so if Mac want to go to cottage for a week during the NBA finals, Parkins with a lot of chiming in from Grote would keep things rolling. Parkins seems to genuinely like Grote, going back to the whole "how the hell does Grote get to have a WS ring?" discussions when he first got there.

Danny really sucking up to the audience with his response to the lineup change questions.

He knows he has turned a lot of them off over the past few years. He'll morph now to try to win them back, he can change his style if he wants to.
