He was fine. Jared Goff was much worse the year before and now look at him. 28 TD to 7 INT in his second year after looking completely hopeless as a rookie. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky never looked hopeless, the tools were always visible whenever he took the ball.

He was let down by his best receiver all year being Dontrelle Inman.

Completing 60% of your passes is a bad thing, not a good thing.

He was like 30-35th in the league in most significant passing categories. He objectively sucked last year. The only positive spin you can put on it is what rick did - say it doesn’t matter because a lot of really good QBs also sucked as rookies.

There isn't a QB in the NFL who could have done better as a rookie with the hand (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky had. There are maybe 5 QB's who could have done well under the conditions (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky was forced to play in. I saw a million reasons to be encouraged by his play. Especially considering how raw he was.

Carson Wentz had a completion % of 60.2 last year. I guess he sucks.

Anyone saying (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is only worth a high second is completely insane.

No. That’s an objective view of it. It’s much more insane to pretend he’s worth a 1.1 and 1.4.

If you measure a QB by one statistic only, you’re gonna have a bad time.

Do you care to make the argument that 60% is a good completion percentage? I’d like to hear it.

Boggles my mind that people are infinitely more high on Watson with two shit knees than (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky. All over Pace giving up a couple mid-round draft picks to move up for him, which he got back by trading down later in the draft anyway.

Mitch was 31st in TD%. 27th in Completion %. 28th in Passing yards/game. 25th in Y/A. 28th in QB rating. 32nd in QBR.

Literally the only category in which he did not suck is Interception %. He was 12th. But for some perspective, Tyrod Taylor was 1st and Jacoby Brissett was 4th.

If you can't acknowledge he objectively played very poorly last year then you're simply not interested in actually talking about football.

Mitch sucked this past year. He was awful across the board. Maybe he gets better this year but you’re definitely wrong if you think he has more value now than he did a year ago.

Not having starting-caliber receivers and tight ends would doom any rookie quarterback. If he doesn't improve this year with the weapons given to him, then I will entertain him being a potential bust.

I'm objectively looking at his performance. You're stat chasing.

I’m not even throwing out the bust term. Rick is correct in that most rookie QBs play poorly. That’s why it’s a bit strange people are twisting themselves in knots to pretend he didn’t play poorly.

Stat chasing is zoning in on one particular stat at the expense of others. I’m looking at the complete picture. You’re just a fan who’s in denial.

Highly unlikely.

Although thinking about it more I can see how a Bear fan would mistakenly believe Mitch played pretty well last year. When you’ve rooted for Rodgers and Favre for 25 years you actually know what it looks like when a QB plays well.

He had a better, more productive rookie season than the vast majority of QB's. FavreFan grasping at straws trying to convince himself that its in any way remarkable that a rookie had mediocre stats. Anyone who watched (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky saw the tools on full display. He had a lot of great plays wiped out by shitty receivers literally falling down or weird ref shit (Zach Miller non-TD was a thing of beauty)...if you actually saw (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky in action you'd see how obvious next year's ascension is.

You're right, no Bears fans have ever seen Favre or Rodgers play QB.

Let’s be clear. Those aren’t mediocre stats. Those are terrible stats.

In bold are his performances against 3 of the top defenses last year. Take those games out and take into account his inexperience and lack of receiving weapons, he had a decent year for a rookie.

Boggles my mind that people are infinitely more high on Watson with two shit knees than (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky. All over Pace giving up a couple mid-round draft picks to move up for him, which he got back by trading down later in the draft anyway.

it is because Watson is on another team. If Watson was drafted by the Bears and had those injury concerns they would be shitting all over him and Pace. Just the way it works.

Carson Wentz had a completion % of 60.2 last year. I guess he sucks.

If you measure a QB by one statistic only, you’re gonna have a bad time.

Do you care to make the argument that 60% is a good completion percentage? I’d like to hear it.

You can't judge a QB by just one stat
Mitch sucks because his completions % was just 60%.

Pick a lane here...John Kerry.

I already picked a lane. I never said the second line.

Lyin’ Bob at it again. Shameful shit.
