Can someone summarize how Bernstein has shit on Mac all these years? When Mac was at the score and when he was not. And how Goff contributed.

People keep posting about it but I don't have any information and we'd all like to know.

When Patrick Mannelly was announced as Mac's replacement, Dan felt compelled to give a speech where he thanked management for no longer being "permissive to a fault" and finally replacing Mac.

Bernstein and Mac got in a knockdown on-air confrontation over how to pronounce "coupon." Never been the same since.

How do you pronounce it?

Coo-pon or Cue-pon?

Personally, coo-pon. Family says cue-pon, though.

Yeah, my family says cue-pon, but eventually my wife told me I was a retard and I’m supposed to say coo-pon.

Man, it’s great being married to someone who makes up for my deficiencies.

And now Mac works with a guy who pronounced catsup as "cat soup."

As hard as it is to ask a serious question at this point in the thread...How much time does Bernstein have left on his contract? Can anyone envision a Bernstein-less Score?

Or should I have given a short history on how Cup-Board became Cubbard?

Is DeCastro thinking Bernstein will fail? Maybe Spiegel is the in-house replacement?

Good point. DeCastro has a pretty decent bench right now.

Since Mac could never pronounce "interesting" correctly either, I'm sure Bernstein won the "coupon" debate. The bleeping "t" is not silent.

It's not "cue". You don't say "cue-gar" for "cougar". It's "koo", as in coup.

Mac is a bit dull between the ears.

I got a little unintended insight into why some people say waiting on line rather than in line. The Jutes, Angles, Saxons and Normans immigrated to England and while semi homogeneous the did have distinct areas of settlement. This helped to produced the different English accents that we hear as the pronounciations of letters in the original underlying languages were still present as English came into existence. Anyway in the original more Frankish languages they use the phrase in line while the more Germanic languages translate to on line.

While we're at it...

It's "play catch" or "play some catch" not "have a catch".

I don't care if it's coo-pon that sounds dumb. Cue-pon for me.

My fight is for the correct pronunciation of Crayons. It is CRAY-ONS not CRANS. I have to correct my wife and kids everyday.

"Integral" always chapped my ass. If used in a statistical or mathematical sense, saying the "int-egg-rull" makes more sense. Yet if we're talking about something of dire importance, it is int-TEGRuhl, heavy emphasis on the TEH.

Are you sure about that? I think it's primary emphasis on the first syllable either way. The non-math definition isn't "of or relating to integrity."

I grew up pronouncing binoculars as you would pronounce bisexual, and I still can’t shake it. Can’t shake the bisexuality either.
