That's because you're too young to remember Dick Allen. Greatest season any player ever had.

That red Sox cap is sharp. Have they worn those red pinstripe jerseys on throwback day?

It's funny how Allen is almost forgotten. If you're just looking at numbers on Baseball Reference, it looks like he had a really good year- obviously he was MVP- but you'd laugh at someone saying it was the greatest season ever. You'd have to understand that ballpark and the way it played at the time and the way pitching dominated. Any adjustment doesn't do Allen justice. I couldn't imagine a White Sox player hitting 30 homer runs at the time. Waiting for the scoreboard explode was like waiting for Halley's Comet. Allen hit 37. And 27 of them at home! It's almost unbelievable. Then you have to wonder why he wasn't so great on the road. My guess would be that lifestyle choices may have had something to do with that.

Yeah, they wore them on Sundays a couple seasons ago.

Yeah that was a different time for sure. I really do not remember the stadium specifics about lack of power for his time. What changed for 77?

They kept moving the plate up. I think it was even moved up during '72. At one time I believe it was 440 to center. Nobody hit homers there.

My dad bought me a white Augusta National Golf Club hat out of the clubhouse pro shop. When he worked there they would get one day
where they could go in and buy stuff only the members can buy. I have the white one which I have worn a lot and a black one that I keep
put away and never worn. My wife wants me to throw away the white one because it gets dirty quickly but we just keep washing it. 99.9% of
people don't even know what I am wearing. You see the Masters logo but if you notice anyone that is wearing a hat that says Augusta National
Golf Club instead of Masters on it then you know it is a rare hat. Anyway I looked on eBay to see if they had any out there and someone is
selling the same hat I wear for $300. Guess I should have taken better care of mine. Someone is selling the black one for $200.

JORR,
Do you remember the Dick Allen Show with co-host,Rick Talley? The Sox back then had an exciting team under Tanner. I could name most of them off the top of my head as compared to hardly any off the current team.

This thread couldn’t get any gayer if it was narrated by good dolphin.

I assure you I'm as straight as a raindrop hitting your driveway on a brisk weekday morning.
