I dont know what you were expecting the answer to be when you asked "and how many games under .500 were they?" I dont think they were ever more than 2 games under all season. They certainly appeared to be playing hungover, I'll concede that but everyone pretty much knew they were gonna be ok. And they won 92. Like I said before had len been shitting on them and they go on to another LCS you'd be mocking him for it.

I never said this. Len can still be a homer and say something like, "Wow the Cubs have really played poorly today and do not deserve to win." He very rarely does. It's also a game-by-game basis. It's a long season and surely you look at the big picture. But that doesn't mean that when a ball is booted in the 4th inning of an April game that it should go unnoticed by the play by play guy.

For all of the bitching and thread starting that Cubs fans do about Hawk, they never seem to mention the MANY times Hawk will be critical of his team.

Nah, that's the wrong interpretation. In sports when you say a team gift wrapped something for an opponent, it's saying that team fucked up and because of their fuck up the other team took advantage. It would still be critical of the Sox in this context.

I know the phrase. My view on it stands. Yes, your team can make errors. Your team also has the opportunity to play through them. The other team still deserves credit for coming through when your team did not come through. They earned it. Hawk does not want to give them credit.
