Look, I said that Hawk calls out the Sox for making mistakes.

I'm sure he has plenty of opportunities to do so.

Quote:
MANY times during the season, he will say something to the effect of "we gift wrapped X amount of runs for them."

That makes him sound like a dickhead.

Quote:
Len rarely does.

Thankfully this is true.
Quote:
Bob jumped in and basically claimed that the Cubs were immune to criticism of any kind

No... he didn't say that. He said the Cubs were good and the sox were shitty. That's truth.
Quote:
Over 162 games, there are MANY times that a team will screw something up or make a mistake and be called out for it. Hawk does that. Len does not.

I dont see why len should have been shitting on a team that was basically still celebrating their world series win. You expect Len to act like an asshole like hawk because things didn't go his way instantly st the start of the season? I dont know what you were expecting the answer to be when you asked "and how many games under .500 were they?" I dont think they were ever more than 2 games under all season. They certainly appeared to be playing hungover, I'll concede that but everyone pretty much knew they were gonna be ok. And they won 92. Like I said before had len been shitting on them and they go on to another LCS you'd be mocking him for it.

No, it doesn't. It makes him sound like a fan.

I'm sorry you prefer your announcers to be dishonest.

Darkside wrote:

I never said this. Len can still be a homer and say something like, "Wow the Cubs have really played poorly today and do not deserve to win." He very rarely does. It's also a game-by-game basis. It's a long season and surely you look at the big picture. But that doesn't mean that when a ball is booted in the 4th inning of an April game that it should go unnoticed by the play by play guy.

For all of the bitching and thread starting that Cubs fans do about Hawk, they never seem to mention the MANY times Hawk will be critical of his team.

why is it so difficult for some to admit the obvious that Len is a douche.

No one defends Ed Farmer except for JR.

It's weird...I agree Len was better with Brenly, but at the same time I like JD now more than Brenly. Maybe Brenly held Len's douchiness in check, or maybe Len changed once the Cubs got good.

That's because Brenly was a bigger douche than Len. I liked them together, but Brenly's on air persona was clearly fake. Like John Gruden on MNF. Everyone knows that there is a bunch of anger lying beneath the surface of smiles and enthusiasm.

Nope. It still sticks in my mind Len talking about Soler developing more muscle in the future as the guy was sitting there looking like peak cycle Glenallen Hill.

len is zack zaidman with higher intelligence and a little more personality. he packages the company line more eloquently than ZZ and adds his try-hard ancient xrt "cool" dad flair.

670 will be a treat with regular len hits and zz's cubs reports

Well these sox fans are just trolling the Cubs fans here anyway. This whole conversation is beyond silly.

I mean, guys who say Hawk, the biggest douchebag in broadcast history, is just being a real fan and that Len Kasper is a douchebag because he's not foaming at the mouth critical of a 2 games under .500 defending world champion are clearly either clinically insane or just trying to get a reaction, either way, who cares because these guys just can't stop worrying about the Cubs.

How does frank know what Len does and doesn't say? Is he watching most Cubs games or is he relying on second hand information?

Except that Hawk actually gets pissed off and will be critical of the Sox. Len rarely says a discouraging word about the Cubs anymore.

I don't see that phrase the same way you do, I guess. It seems to be opposite of actual, realized accountability. Instead, it comes off as "no way they could have beaten us unless we let them!" And that ties into "no way we would have lost unless the umpires were on the Tigers' side!"

Nah, that's the wrong interpretation. In sports when you say a team gift wrapped something for an opponent, it's saying that team fucked up and because of their fuck up the other team took advantage. It would still be critical of the Sox in this context.

I know the phrase. My view on it stands. Yes, your team can make errors. Your team also has the opportunity to play through them. The other team still deserves credit for coming through when your team did not come through. They earned it. Hawk does not want to give them credit.

Not true.

You maybe watch more White Sox games than I. Maybe he gives the other team credit sometimes. But not often when I watch. And when he does, there is always some backhanded twist to it.

I've never seen Hawk admit that the White Sox just got beat, period.

Hawk admits defeat MANY times during a season. From what I watch and read here, Len has turned into a complete homer who very rarely says anything negative about the Cubs.
