Why? As a modest owner of modest firearms, surely the proposed regulations would not affect you.

Are there specific proposed regulations now? From the little I've seen regarding this I just thought it was a vague "guns are bad and shouldn't exist" march.

Well I don’t know specifics either but I did learn clear backpacks are against the first amendment.

Well clear backpacks are pretty goddamn dumb as far as solutions to school shootings go. Right?

Holy shit you are even dumber than I thought...

You realize libertarians tend to be against Trump and authoritarian minded politicians in general, right? I'm pretty sure Darkside or FF tried explaining this to you in the past, but even then it didn't get through your thick skull.

Wouldn't mandating clear backpacks at a public school raise Fourth concerns as well? I know it gets wonky when you start talking about kids in a school, but even then, kids aren't entirely without the protections from the Fourth on school grounds, as I understand it.

Were there any rulings on locker searches?
Do you have a reasonable expectation of privacy in a public school?

I found New Jersey v. T.L.O.: https://supreme.justia.com/cases/federa ... /case.html

Searches in schools are governed by the Fourth, and school officials need to show that the search was not "unreasonable". I would guess that mandating clear backpacks would be deemed by a court as having the effect of some kind of search (the government ought not be able to do indirectly what it can't do directly), and indiscriminately "searching" students in this manner would be unreasonable.

Dress that up with some citations, and boom.

Their rights in public schools are curtailed.

Tyra Hemans, 19, a senior, told CNN she supports parts of the new policy, such as the ID requirement. But she believes other security measures, such as forcing students to carry clear backpacks, don't adequately address the real problem with school safety, which she says is lax gun laws.

"I'm not happy with it. Why are you punishing me for one person's actions?" she said.

Interesting statement.

Just ban high schools for ten years. This generation is a loss. Let them pop Xanax, trade sexts and drive Ubers

This is what you get when you put high school students in charge of your party ideology.

Clear backpacks won't do anything. The solution is to put a school issued firearm in every backpack. The only way to stop guns in schools is to add as many guns as possible to schools.

Low effort. You need to take your annual post-CFMB March Madness hiatus, you're burnt out.

Most kids are 18 when they graduate high school. They keep sliding back the cut off date for enrollment age. There was a time it was a month or so into the school year, I even remember kids with November birthdays of the same year as mine in class with me. Someone who turned 19 would be older but not incredibly old. Hell I had a 20 year old in my graduating class. Mind you he had a stroke and lost the ability to speak English when he was 10 so had to relearn the language but you never know circumstances.
