You haven't listened to her then. She was terrible during the CNN town hall. Yelling at the crowd for not letting her destroy the NRA spokesperson. I appears that others see it as well, but they come off as excited for the opportunity rather than somber or in mourning.

No, I have listened to her. I think she's the only one of the kids who comes off sincere.

Are you talking about the one with the Cuban flag on her jacket?

Yes.

Of course, my post was before the Cuban flag. She's of Cuban descent though, so not sure how to feel about that. I don't take issue with those or Irish descent wearing that flag.

It's not Shapiro. Shapiro is a an actual journalist. It's another Parkland kid.

So flags are more about heritage than what they may represent?

You should take a break from trying to constantly find partisan GOTCHAS

Flags mean different things to different people. I dont care for the Confederate flag but Id never take issue with someone flying it. Fly a Nazi flag if you want.

She should be proud of her Cuban heritage, but she makes herself look like an ignorant ass when she wears the flag that oppressed her family and led to them coming over here in the 1st place (after their guns were seized of course).

Wearing that flag today would be like an Irish person who fled Cromwell wearing an English flag in the 17th century.

It's certainly her right to do so, but her displaying the flag certainly shows her ignorance of the reality of life under an authoritarian regime that her family fled from. (one in which only the government has the guns as well)

Maybe the flag represents her ancestors struggle?

I dont think she is purposely honoring the way of life in Cuba, but who knows.

There is the German flag and then there is the Nazi flag, two different things.

heck fucking Nazis have a right to fly the Nazi flag, but it tells me that they are fucking morons and people who are not fit to be a part of civilized society.

A child of Cuban refugees flying the flag that represents Castro's regime would be like me flying the flag of the Czars after my family had fled pogroms in 1905. I think this would be a very fair and accurate analogy for me to make as the scenarios are comparable. In fact, the Cuban flag would be worse as people still suffer under that flag.

But the gun owners are the scared snowflakes

The Education Department reports that roughly 50 million children attend public schools for roughly 180 days per year. Since Columbine, approximately 200 public school students have been shot to death while school was in session, including the recent slaughter at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. (and a shooting in Birmingham, Ala., on Wednesday that police called accidental that left one student dead). That means the statistical likelihood of any given public school student being killed by a gun, in school, on any given day since 1999 was roughly 1 in 614 million. And since the 1990s, shootings at schools have been getting less common.

The chance of a child being shot and killed in a public school is extraordinarily low. Not zero — no risk is. But it’s far lower than many people assume, especially in the glare of heart-wrenching news coverage after an event like Parkland. And it’s far lower than almost any other mortality risk a kid faces, including traveling to and from school, catching a potentially deadly disease while in school or suffering a life-threatening injury playing interscholastic sports.

Hey, remember that time I made the point that being a truck driver was more likely to get you killed than being a cop, and you made a big joke about it even though it was literally a fact?

Well, enjoy a year of "Football is more dangerous than school shootings!". I just hope it doesn't trigger WaitingForRuffcorn too.
