Was wondering too, but probably not that rare since it's usually in home run heaven in Cinci

I think it was JORR and Reader favorite Dwight Evans against Detroit ( Jack Morris I believe )

1st hitter of the season probably isn't so rare, but I would think 1st pitch of the season hasn't happened all that often.

Strikeout for Happ, but coked 7 pitches in that at bat. He's going to have a very nice year.

If Ian Happ leads off today's game with a home run, I will jump in Lake Michigan later today.

If there have been 118 first pitches of the season (since 1900), and the average home run rate over that period is 1.9%, there's a decent chance a batter has done it before in the first plate appearance. Not sure how far back they keep records for first pitch though.

Didn't see it but sound liked it bounced off the fence, so I'd assume its not totally his fault.
