Just have to eat it, bat him 8th and give him 300 ab a year..late inning defensive replacement. Id rather sign Machado to play 3rd n move kris to LF and trade Schwarber plus Happ or Almora for pitching.

I'm kind of leaning to Machado over Harper also.

Based on what?

Obviously both of them are great players and both would help the team. But I am completely in the Harper camp.

Similar batters through the age of 24:

Harper has 3 HOFers on the list: Frank Robinson, Hank Aaron, and Griffey Jr. Plus Miggy and Trout.

Machado has 1 HOFer on the list: Ron Santo

Yeah I think Harper is a no brainer unless you can convince the Angels to trade the best player in baseball. I would take back Pujols in order to get Trout.

I was amazed looking at Baseball Reference.

Bryce Harper’s 6 seasons = 26.1 WAR
Kris Bryant’s 3 seasons = 19.7 WAR

I get it. Harper has battled with some injuries through his career. I just wonder what makes a guy have such a historical season in 2015, batting .330, 42 home runs, and posting a 10 WAR, then in 2016 hitting an abysmal .243

He played in 153 games in ‘15 and 147 in ‘16. Must have played through some nagging injury in 2016.

I still take Harper over Machado but it might be easier to trade for Machado in July (if the Orioles are shopping him) then it is to predict what Harper wants to do after the season.

You name a player and I'll link you to the game where that player did the same.

Nah, I know every major leaguer hits with authority at some point in his career. No need for you to link that for me.

The Heyward hate around here is a little over the top.

Look at him close an inning.

Defensively.

He did just drive in the lead run.

And save the game last night on defense.

Should he turn water into wine on this Easter weekend?

I think asking a $180 million guy or whatever his contract is to not be horrendous offensively is a fair expectation. I certainly wouldn't label it as over the top hate.

3 for 10 on the season and always plays great defense.

I get the hate for him the last 2 years.

But so far this season he has been fine. So yes the hate for him is a little over the top. I dont think that is such an outrageous statement right now.

Heyward quietly had a very solid week at the plate, going 7-for-16 with a triple, a homer, and seven runs batted in. After the series in Colorado, Heyward brought his season line up to .262/.352/.410, worth 114 wRC+. If he can stay at that level of production for the rest of the season, he’ll be worth every cent of the $21.5 million the Cubs are paying him this year. Oh, and he’s also on pace for over 119 runs batted in this year. Where are the Jason Heyward h8ers at? I can’t hear you.
