Yeah. Q was bad. It's hard to win games giving up 5 run innings. But the other side failed as well.
Team failure today

You'll see. I used to be on the other side of the debate with Quintana.

Some guys just find a way to lose. Jose falls into that category.

I’ve got no time for heel nipping chihuahuas, Bob. The Rockford Files are on COZI TV.

Bought the entire series on DVD last week. Gonna be great to watch it again.

I am pretty sure that is impossible after one start. In fact the whole staff is doomed.

Season over.

Lets focus on the Bears draft Doc

Pretty pathetic way to start the season. Splitting 4 with that shit team is awful. The vaunted pitching staff had 1.5 good outings against a AAA team. Need to sweep the reds and look a lot better against the Brewers.

It definelty was a frustrating series not going to lie...trying to find the perfect balance of not overreacting to a small batch of games, but on the same token, it certainly is a "WTF!" moment. Not a single god damn run off the Marlins 4th starter to boot.

Cubs are hitting .171/.256/.271 off lefties, and .149/.305/.213 with RISP.

Yeah, they've hit the ball hard for outs a bunch of times, but they still have to do better.

5 k's already today. Stop trying to work a fucking walk and swing the damn bat. What is it with Madden teams that they piss away the first half of the season and then finally get some fire up their ass at the break and start playing ball. It happened in Tampa all the time too.

His shenanigans are effective with a young and hungry team. Once they have climbed to the top of the mountain its shelf life has been exceeded. I don't want to hear that bullshit from yesterday about how hard they hit the ball from him.

This is definitely up for discussion. I don't necessarily disagree. There's value in having a manager to break up the monotony of a long season though. Hopefully he can adjust from magician type stuff

Well, this matters though especially when looking at a 1 game sample size. They had half a dozen hard hit outs yesterday that are hits 85+% of the time. If we are having the same discussions/issues come end of June...then I'd agree.

I caught some of the Astros game over the weekend. The announcers were talking about how the Astros used to believe that strikeouts don't matter vs. other outs, and then they got better once they figured that strikeouts do matter.

I am having trouble keeping up with the baseballs quants. I never understood how a strikeout was as "good" as a batted out. You know the outcome of a strikeout short of a drop third strike. Any ball in play could result in a runner on base from a hit or an error. With a strikeout you never have a chance to see what happens because the ball is not put in play.

Only saw the first 3 games in Miami, as we flew back Sunday to be back for Easter dinner, but after game 1, it just seemed like the hitters did not know the Marlins pitchers and were baffled a lot. Terrible bunting when they did bunt, not moving runners up or making productive outs to score runs. Cannot imagine what attendance is going to be like there when they couldn't even sell out the opener and the ballpark was maybe 1/3 full on Saturday. No school, great weather and 2/3 empty.

The fourth game really sucked in person. Everybody was sleepwalking except for the half inning where the Marlins woke up and pounded the living shit out of Quintana, and Joe didn't have enough bullpen to go yank him.

Crowds went down each day - 13k/12k/11k over Fri/Sat/Sun. Shit, the Cubs draw 14k to Mesa for games which don't even count and where all the starters are on the golf course or fucking their girlfriends by the fifth inning.

The Marlins fan base is non-existent. The ballpark is in a shitty location, on Opening Day it took us a full hour to get out of the parking garage. Conversely, on Sunday the crowd was so thin that we got into our car in one of the surface lots and it looked less busy than the Proviso West parking lot during the holiday basketball tournament. No decent F&B because why would anybody set something up when crowds are rarely over 12k. Nobody from Broward County will leave the county to go to a sporting event in Miami, and the Cubans appear to be either too cheap or too destitute to go to games.

Meanwhile, the Marlins PR department is missing out on the potential of "Starlin the Marlin." I felt really sorry for him, playing in front of what would be Arizona spring training crowds. Hopefully he gets liberated to an AL team around the ASB.

I dont understand why the Brewers havent traded Villar for Castro and a prospect. He would rake for the crew.

Cassie is only under contract through next year. Plenty of time to bring up the guy with no elbow ligament that flat out rakes.

Another shit game. Last years excuse was World Series hangover, what will this year's be? This road trip was set up to get them off to a great start, but could be heading to face the Crew at a pathetic 3-3 or 2-4.
